Minecraft is one of the most popular games in the world, and part of the appeal comes from its complex and ever-evolving game world. Not only have the developers added a number of new biomes, but they've also brought in a number of new mobs. One type of mob, the axolotl, has quickly become a fan favorite. Now, one Minecraft fan has brought the axolotl into the real world as a wood sculpture.

In the real world, axolotls are a type of critically endangered tiger salamander found in the waters of Lake Xochimilco in the Valley of Mexico and in the canals and waterways of Mexico City. Minecraft axolotls spawn inside the rivers of the Lush Caves, where they can be tamed by players.

Reddit user Jappiedappie1234 shared a photograph of a little wooden axolotl they made based on the adorable Minecraft axolotl design. The sculpture is composed of thin pieces of wood cut to resemble the blocky pixelized graphics of the game. According to the artist, they assumed that each pixel in the Minecraft design would equal one centimeter in real life, so the final sculpture is about 26 centimeters long. It's a very game-accurate recreation of the axolotl model, complete with each individual fin and four legs positioned for swimming.

Minecraft axolotls come in five different color schemes: leucistic, blue, cyan, gold, and wild. However, the wood of this sculpture is unpainted as Jappiedappie1234 reportedly prefers the wood texture on their models. They have stated that they may build a second axolotl and paint that one, though it's unclear which color scheme they would go for. The sculpture also features a tiny face seemingly drawn onto the wood in what appears to be black pen or marker.

As of writing, it appears that other Minecraft fans are excited and impressed by Jappiedappie1234's creation. Several users congratulated them on their creation, with one reaching out on the subject of possibly commissioning an axolotl of their own. A second user joked that they wanted to break into the artist's house and steal the sculpture. A third user stated that this should be a new piece of Minecraft merchandise, while a fourth declared that looking at this post could make people fall in love in two seconds. A fifth user announced that the axolotl was the best mob ever. According to Jappiedappie1234, the sculpture was made out of solid wooden blocks coated in a little bit of oil. It hasn't been tested yet, but it should be about as waterproof as a table.

Minecraft is available right now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
