One of the things that makes Minecraft so popular and successful is the community input. As well as creating so many incredible and complicated builds using the game's building mechanics, fans are also given the opportunity to influence what goes into the next update. Last year, the Minecraft community chose the glow squid to be the next mob. This year, there's a chance to do it all over again, as the studio announces three new potential candidates that people can vote on to see which will get added.

According to several tweets from the official Minecraft Twitter account, fans will get the opportunity to choose which new mob will be part of a future update. The three to choose from are the Glare, Allay, and Copper Golem. Voting will commence when Minecraft Live goes ahead, which will be on October 16. Each separate tweet gives a little bit of information about each mob, accompanied by a short animated clip which introduces them. This way, fans will get to have a little bit of background information on each one before they cast their vote in a couple of days.

The Glare was already teased a couple of days ago, which is a mob that warns players when areas being entered are dark enough for enemies to spawn. Allay is described as a musical mob. Players can interact with it by giving it an item, where it will then set off to find more of that item or something similar. Players who are near a musical note block can strike it to entice Allay to drop the item by it. The Copper Golem is a buildable being which, as the name suggests, is made entirely out of copper, which also means it will oxidize over time.

Minecraft Live 2021 was announced at the start of September. It is an annual event which encapsulates all things Minecraft, such as featuring content creators, and announcing news. The event will be livestreamed in a couple of days and starts at 9am PDT, 12pm EDT, and 5pm BST.

The fact that it has its own annual event shows just how huge the game is, and continues to be so ten years on. Last year, Minecraft surpassed 200 million in sales, making it one of the most successful games in history. Its dedicated fan base and near-endless replayability are what has led it to become such a juggernaut of a game, and the addition of new content shows the studio is still keeping it fresh for as long as possible.

Minecraft is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
