As games go, the popularity of Minecraft can partly be attested to the fact that it's suitable for all ages. As an open-world game that kids can enjoy, Mojang's sandbox title encapsulates the very essence of the term "family-friendly." It has mass appeal, as well as being thoroughly enjoyable to boot. Such is its influence, and its attraction to the family unit, that some people go so far as to mix the concept of the game with their actual family.

That's what user Eter1817 has done. In a recent post on the Minecraft subreddit, they uploaded a picture that showcases a collage of additional images. The central one is a photograph of their family, while the others are redrawings of all their members, but done in the style of the game. Not only is it pretty excellent work in general, but the stylized artwork captures the immediate recognizability of the game, while also still retaining the idea that it's based on this family photo. Other people in the thread have left comments of praise for the user, particularly the way in which they captured some of the game's aspects.

That's perhaps what makes this image rather noteworthy. As well as being drawn in the blocky style of the crafting game, it also shows the family members as some of Minecraft's most well-known mobs. In particular, there's one image in which everyone has been made to look like a villager and another which shows them as creepers, complete with green coloring. When asked what texture pack they'd used to make the images, Eter1817 jokingly said they used "real life."

As a video game with near-infinite replay value, Minecraft has managed to maintain its position as one of the most successful releases of all time, largely due to its creative aspects. There is so much to do and see in the game, that the fact that it's been out for more than ten years doesn't seem to have slowed down its popularity. It's generally considered one of the most wholesome things in gaming at the moment.

However, not everyone is happy with the game right now. Some in the community have shown concern about the new chat reporting system that's come into effect. Mojang has said it will not back down on the policy, despite the backlash, with some feeling that chat messages in-game could easily be taken out of context. That ugliness aside, what this Reddit user has shown is that the creative potential of Minecraft can easily bleed into the real world, often with interesting results.

Minecraft is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
