Minecraft is surely one of the biggest games to date - and not only in terms of popularity. The endlessly-generating worlds mean that players can keep going... and going... and going. The game has no end, and those who enter this world can immerse themselves in it for as long as they like.
Recently, there was a rather large update to Minecraft. The Caves and Cliffs update brought new creatures, items, and most importantly, biomes to the game. World building heights have been adjusted, and just as well, since the newest biomes are some of the tallest that players have ever seen! Here is a list of the new biomes ranked in terms of which are the funniest, most interesting, and most useful.
8 Snowy Slopes
Starting off slow is the Snowy Slopes biome. It's fun to look at, sure, and players can build a lovely snowy retreat — but that's about it. It's not much different from previous snow biomes.
The biome will spawn on huge mountainsides and is littered with snow, powdered snow, and stone blocks. There is no ice to be found here, though, as it is not quite cold enough. The regular ores and coal spawn here, along with goats. That's about it for this cool biome, sadly; there's not much that stands out about it.
7 Grove
The Grove mountain biome is a scarce one. It will only generate at a place where a mountain biome connects with a dark or taiga forest, which can be hard to find. They are always found at the foot of a mountain.
These areas can be hazardous: made of powder snow, players can sink in if not properly equipped. Wear leather boots when walking here! Due to a lack of grass blocks (there is only dirt under the snow), only a few mobs tend to spawn. These include orange foxes, wolves, and rabbits.
6 Stony Peaks
Stony Peaks can be absolutely massive, and can be an impressive sight. That's kind of it, though. This place is warmer than its other peak siblings, but has less going on. The stony areas are found in biomes like jungle or savanna, where the temperature is above freezing.
Here, there are no snowy areas. Mostly it is just stone and calcite. Calcite might sound cool, but in fact, it has no function. The benefit of this bereft biome is that there is a new green tint to the grass blocks and other plant life, and can be rife with uncovered ore veins.
5 Jagged Peaks
Jagged Peaks are a somewhat more interesting version of the Stony. They generate in colder areas, and have some pretty extreme heights and geography. The peaks themselves can hit world height, at about y=250+ coordinates.
Here is where goats spawn the most, as they are the only mob that can. In addition to these angry woolen creatures, ore can be found here, along with copious snow and stone. Beware though — as the name suggests, this is a dangerous place, and players can find themselves dropping from immense heights if they move wrong.
4 Frozen Peaks
The third Peak biome added in the Caves And Cliffs update is the Frozen Peaks. Covered in ice and snow, they hold no mobs other than goats due to the temperatures. Smaller than Jagged peaks, there can be ice glaciers here. This area is great for a shining, icy fortress that will leave players undisturbed.

3 Dripstone Caves
One of two new types of cave added in the update is the Dripstone Caves. These are found underground (obviously), and are filled with dripstone blocks, as well as pointed dripstone pieces. These can be hanging from the ceiling or growing up out of the ground.
Dripstone can also spawn in ravines, and will usually hold more copper ore than other cave biomes. Watch out though — the new cave biomes can be hazardous. The pointed dripstone blocks will harm players if they touch it, and Drowned can spawn in any underground wells.
2 Meadow
The most "normal" biome that has been added in the Caves and Cliffs update is the Meadow biome. Filled with flowers, trees, grass and bees, they closely resemble the plains of old. Interestingly, this is the only mountain biome that can spawn villages.
Passive mobs like sheep, rabbits, cows and donkeys can spawn here. Bees make their homes here as well. A hive will appear on random oak or birch trees, and the bees will make their way around the surrounding flowers. The bountiful meadows can be found on low parts of mountains, or on plains.
1 Lush Caves
By far the best newly added biome is the Lush Caves. The second cave biome added in the update has mountains of flora for players to find, the most interesting of these being Glow Berries. These can be used to plant vines, or as natural lighting when in the deep, dark structures.
Other fascinating things grow here: stackable drip leaves, spore blossoms, moss blocks, and Azalea bushes. The new Lush Caves are signalled by an Azalea tree growing above ground. Follow this, and it will lead the player to them.
