Minecraft Dungeons, Mojang's ARPG/dungeon crawler, is scheduled to launch in April. Yet despite it being just about a month away from launch, surprisingly little is known about Minecraft Dungeons. Perhaps in an effort to start sharing more information, Mojang and Microsoft put out a new teaser trailer. The short trailer is gameplay-focused, offering a first look at Minecraft Dungeons' gear system and some of the game's "Unique" rarity gear.

The trailer is just under 30 seconds long and starts by showing off Minecraft Dungeons' loot menu. The loot menu shows the player and their gear, made up of slots for a melee weapon, armor, and a ranged weapon, plus three accessory slots. There's also an inventory menu full of various equipment and items, including a mining pick.

To start the trailer, the player equips a set of gear that's certain to stand out. The axe, Fox Armor, and Elite Power Bow are all of Unique quality, which may be Minecraft Dungeons' rarest loot. The player is not max level, so players will be able to earn Unique rarity loot even at lower levels, it seems.

One interesting detail about the player's Fox Armor is that it has three equipable enchantments. The only enchantment equipped is currently "Fire Trail," which gives the player a trail of fire as they dodge. The player also equips a Flaming Quiver accessory that gives them burning arrows. They've become an avatar of flaming doom with their great RPG-like gear.

The rest of the short trailer is dedicated to showing off what the player's armor and weapons do in action. The player shoots flaming arrows, creates furrows of lava with their dodges, and takes out what could be a flaming axe when in melee range. Plus, they do it all with a handsome set of fox-themed armor that helps heals allies and have them deal more damage.

Those questioning just how much of an ARPG Minecraft Dungeons is, versus a more dungeon crawler-type game like Gauntlet, should now have a better idea. The game doesn't have as robust of an equipment customization system as Diablo might, but it does at least have weapons, armor, and accessories. All of which have a Power Level that will increase as players level and take on more challenging content. That's not even taking into consideration Minecraft Dungeons' classes and abilities. Expect to hear more soon.

Minecraft Dungeons releases April 2020 on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
