Minecraft has been around for more than a decade. During that time period, the original game has gone through massive changes. On top of that the developer, Mojang, was bought out by Microsoft in 2014, opening the way for even more possibilities to grow the brand.

For example, partnered with Telltale, an adventure game was made. Up until now, that was the only spin-off, but now Minecraft Dungeons is here to take on the Diablo genre. However, it's not exactly like that series; in fact, it's more like a lighter RPG. Whether one is young, or young at heart, here are some tips to help with the adventure.

10 Do Not Worry About The Story

The story in Minecraft Dungeons is there to set up the premise and that’s about it. A narrator will introduce players to each new dungeon, and maybe chime in along the way, but it’s not something crucial.

That’s why it’s suggested to mute the game and turn on a good podcast and/or blast some tunes. It’s that kind of chilled game that can be played as a means to relax.

9 Ranged Tips

Arrows are limited but because one finds so many, they are near limitless. That said, there are limitations to that. For example, a later bow can shoot multiple arrows which will drain supplies faster. It’s important to save that for bosses and/or huge hordes of monsters that gang up.

Even though the arrows may be plentiful, again, these situations can potentially drain them fast. Use normal melee attacks for most of the game. It’s both faster and easier.

8 The Game Never Pauses

On that note, the game never pauses; consequently, it is not like one can switch between bows easily. This means players can get attacked while going through their equipment and option pause menus.

This is understandable when players group up with other travelers, but it doesn’t make much sense in solo play. Nobody should be surprised if someone dies while going through their loot.

7 Be Flexible With Enchantment Points

There are no classes or real levels in Minecraft Dungeons. Progress is tracked through Enchantment Points that are gained when “leveling up,” which can be used on weapons to unlock abilities.

They can also be taken back by salvaging equipment, however, that also means that piece of gear is gone. Even though points can never really be lost, it’s still important to be cautious when allocating them to equipment. Don’t go spending them haphazardly is the main point.

6 Emeralds Mean Nothing

Emeralds are the other currency in the game. These can be spent on two shops that unlock in the player’s hub world or camp. Both shops operate on random loot. There is never any choice so, in this way, it operates sort of like a gacha mobile game.

If this game was free to play, this currency would make sense. As Minecraft Dungeons stands now, it does not. Emeralds then are kind of worthless. One might get lucky with special treasure, but there’s really no need to horde gems, which is counter advice to the Enchantment Points.

5 Wait To Play Until You Get A Group

The game is fun by itself. Again, as the story doesn’t provide much color, it’s kind of mindless but that’s okay. Fun can be had when playing alone, but Minecraft Dungeons is not exactly a must-play title of 2020.

That is to say, there is no rush to beat it in order to save oneself from spoilers. It should be on Xbox One for a long while. That’s why it’s suggested to wait until at least one friend can join in on the adventure. It will be beneficial to all involved in this regard.

4 It Is Very Short, So There Is No Need To Rush

Minecraft Dungeons is not terribly long. One can probably finish it within ten hours and that might even be generous. Naturally, the game will also finish faster if one has friends. Because it’s so short, it’s then recommended to replay every dungeon a few times before moving onto the next one.

This will not only level up players and thus grant them a bounty of Enchantment Points, but certain pieces of loot can only be obtained on higher tiers of difficulty. This can be adjusted right before one enters a dungeon. There is no need to speed through the campaign, just take it slow and enjoy the experience.

3 Try Harder Modes First

If one doesn’t feel like playing the same dungeons multiple times in a row, then there is another option: Play the game on one tier above the recommended level.

Minecraft Dungeons is not that hard. While potions are on a recharge meter, they are limitless all the same; furthermore, players even get extra lives upon death. This game is meant for a beginner jumping into the Diablo genre meaning that if one wants a challenge, well, bumping up the difficulty before a run is recommended.

2 Use The Map

There are plenty of secrets in the game, be it hidden chests or even secret rooms. However, it may not seem like there is much off the beaten path at first. In the beginning, that is to say, it is more valuable to follow the waypoints.

After the tutorial, like when the world map opens up, dungeons than become more intricate. Follow the marker, but also pop up the map in order to make sure to not miss any pathways that end in dead ends. Chances are that’s where the good stuff is hidden.

1 Explore Your Camp

After completing every mission something will inevitably open up in the camp. This can mean new shops, as was previously mentioned, along with new places to explore.

The biggest reason to explore campsites after every mission is that there will be chests. Chances are they won’t contain as cool of treasures as dungeons, but free loot is free loot.
