Mojang continues to support Minecraft Dungeons as the game approaches its first-year anniversary in May. Three significant DLC releases, Jungle Awakens, Creeping Winter, and Howling Peaks, were all released in 2020, and Mojang isn't done yet. The studio has a new Minecraft Dungeons expansion in the works named Flames of the Nether. It's even far enough along now that Mojang feels confident in announcing when players will be able to pick up Flames of the Nether: February 24.

Flames of the Nether is the latest premium expansion for Minecraft Dungeons. It includes six entirely new missions to explore and complete, which include new Minecraft biomes, too. As befitting new missions, Mojang is also going to drop a ton of new weapons and gear for players to earn. Included with the DLC will also be two new skins for characters to customize themselves with, as well as a new Baby Ghast pet for players to adopt.

The premium Flames of the Nether DLC isn't all that will be releasing on February 24, however. Mojang also wants to provide some new content for Minecraft Dungeons players who don't want to make a purchase. Mojang calls it the "most ambitious free update" yet. Its core addition is the Ancient Hunts feature, which are endlessly playable endgame missions. It's the only way to earn Gilded endgame gear, as well as the new Gold currency.

Mojang says it'll have more to reveal about Flames of the Nether and its accompanying free update, including more feature reveals, soon. One teaser Mojang hangs for fans is planned changes to Apocalypse Plus in the free update. Minecraft Dungeons continues to grow month to month.

Minecraft Dungeons is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
