Just like the game it is based on, Minecraft Dungeons is all about exploring. Here are 10 Easter Eggs only true fans caught in Minecraft Dungeons.

10 Nether Portal

Blink and its gone. If players search the campgrounds, eventually they will stumble upon whats looks to be just some broken rock formation, however, anyone that has ever built a Nether Portal will know exactly what that pile of stones can be if activated. How cool would it be if the Nether was added to the game? It remains to be seen if the developer intends for players to be able to use the portal, or if it is just there  as a cool Easter egg to find.

9 Secret Chests

Minecraft Dungeons is all about exploring and gathering loot. Chests are littered across the world containing armor, weapons, and artifacts for the player to find. Not all of these chests are the same though, and depending on which one the player is lucky enough to find, you'll have the chance to get much stronger and rarer loot. For players skilled enough to scale the mountain close to the deactivated Nether Portal, there is a hidden chest that will give the player tons of emeralds and a powerful piece of equipment.

8 Desert Temple

Temples are one of the many locales found when playing the original Minecraft. Full of dangers as well as secrets, its always exciting to see one of these temples in between your mining.

The Desert Temple level of Minecraft Dungeons is a direct callback to that and allows the player a deeper look inside of one of these massive structures. When looking at the map while at camp, players will notice the familiar shape of the Desert Temple right away.

7 Steve

Steve holding a pickaxe

What else needs to be said? It's Steve! Probably the most recognizable thing about the entire Minecraft franchise is its main hero. Yeah, there are countless other skins players can choose from to use as there avatar for their mining adventures, but not one of them comes anywhere close to being as iconic. When starting in Minecraft Dungeons, players will need to choose what skin they will use. Although it is odd that Steve isn't the default, he is there for players to use. At the very bottom of the list.

6 Wandering Trader

Different mobs inhabit the vast world of Minecraft, from normal villagers to their more aggressive counterpart the illager, players have the ability to interact with these mobs with varying results. The Wandering Trader is one such mob that can be found aimlessly walking about the map, giving the player access to different items that can be purchased with emeralds. The Wandering Trader will appear in the camp area Minecraft Dungeons allowing the player to purchase random artifacts to use while continuing their hack and slash adventures.

5 Diamond Pickaxe

If Steve is the most recognizable character from Minecraft, then the pickaxe is the most recognizable item, and nothing compares to its diamond variant. Out of all the usable ores found in Minecraft, diamond is the strongest and most durable. The Diamond Pickaxe makes mining a breeze, and in Minecraft Dungeons its inclusion as a unique weapon is a cool callback to the franchise's origin. Diamond Swords are also available for players to find and use in the game.

4 Livestock

Alongside the villagers and wandering traders, there are loads of other passive mobs that occupy the world of Minecraft. The first mobs a player will likely see will be livestock mobs. From cows to turtles, these creatures bring the world around the player to life and give the player access valuable resources depending on the animal type. In Minecraft Dungeons players will find cows, sheep, pigs, and chickens throughout adventuring, some which can be be used for health and experience points.

3 Secret Cow Level

This one is more of a Diablo 2 Easter egg than anything, the secret cow level, was a small area in Diablo 2 where players would do battle with Hell Bovines(halberd wielding cows). In Minecraft Dungeons, the player can access a similar secret area after completing all levels and collecting all 9 of the runes hidden throughout the game.

The difference between the two? Instead of Hell Bovines, Minecraft Dungeon players will be greeted by a hoard of angry Mooshrooms.

2 Blacksmith

Found another village while exploring in Minecraft? Better check for a Blacksmith. There is normally plenty of goodies to be taken from chests located within the walls of the Blacksmith. From diamonds, wood planks, to loaves of bread, it serves as a quick way to collect some useful items. Luckily, the Blacksmith pops up in Minecraft Dungeons to exchange randomly selected items for emeralds.

1 Enchantments

There are many differences between Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons for sure, but one thing that is the same is the importance of enchantments. Without them, it would be extremely difficult to progress far in either game. Minecraft Dungeons is loaded with many of the enchantments fans of Minecraft are familiar with. Want to add some fire damage to your arsenal? Look for a weapon with Fire Aspect. Needing to boost your armors defensive ability? Try searching for armor with Protection.
