Redditor Nanikos has gained access to Minecraft Dungeons DLC before they released and has begun posting screenshots and leaking information. The first bit of info they have shared is a screenshot of an upcoming level being added to the game's second DLC called the Frozen Fjord.
Nanikos gives LukeFZ a shout out, thanking them for finding the DLC files in the first place. Once acquired, Nanikos was able to load the DLC files into the game, granting them access to both of Minecraft Dungeons' expansions. Nanikos has refused to share the files or the method of accessing them in order to preserve the integrity of Minecraft Dungeons.
The image itself that Nanikos has shared doesn't show too much information beyond what fans would expect from a level called Frozen Fjord, but it has some exciting implications. More likely than not, Nanikos will milk this for all it's worth, sharing new information about the DLC slowly over time. It will be interesting to see if they share any new mobs coming to Minecraft Dungeons.
The image above gives fans a first look at the Frozen Fjord, and it looks much like what one would expect. There is a lot of snow, and it seems the player has taken a boat to get to the area, as they are standing on what looks like a dock. There is a clear indicator that the DLC is not fully finished yet, as the quest in the top right corner of the screen is simply listed as <MISSING STRING TABLE ENTRY>. A closer look at the picture reveals some interesting things, however.
The character in the screenshot is only level 13, meaning it is likely that the DLC can be accessed even before beating the main game. Most players are higher than level 13 after beating the Arch Illager for the first time, so this would make sense. That said, it could simply be a product of the unorthodox way of accessing the area that the player has used. Other than that, nothing seems too out of place, but as was previously mentioned, there may be more to come soon.
The morality of sharing leaks like this should be mentioned, as leaks have the potential to drastically harm a game, as was made clear by the devastating The Last of Us 2 leaks. On the bright side, it seems that Nanikos is being ethical with the information, not sharing how to enable the DLC or any major spoilers/surprises which the devs may have had in store.
