At the end of players' journey with Minecraft Dungeons, they will come face to face with the Arch Illager himself. No one expected defeating this pesky little Illager to be a simple task, but the final encounter ends up being much more difficult than any could have anticipated.

Spoilers ahead for Minecraft Dungeons final level and final boss, and there is one surprise which is best experienced by the player, so readers should wait to check out this guide until they've tried the boss fight at least once. That said, here's how to best deal with the Arch Illager boss fight.

The Arch Illager boss fight takes place in two stages, the first of which is against the Arch Illager himself. This portion of the fight isn't complicated, but can be rather overwhelming at times due to the high volume of enemies involved.

The Arch Illager, unlike most bosses in the game, doesn't have a melee attack. Instead, his sole attack is a volley of three orbs of dominance. Upon hit, these deal moderate damage to the player. The rate of fire at which he shoots these makes it difficult to get close, however. The real reason this portion of the fight is tough is because of the mobs he summons and subsequently enchants (he can enchant up to two mobs at a time). First, the Arch Illager will summon a group of vindicators (well armored illagers with axes). These are easy to take down but can overwhelm players if they aren't careful. After getting the boss' health bar down past the first diamond, he will summon a Redstone Golem.

Players should approach defeating this Redstone Golem the same way they have the many others that they've faced, but should note that this one lays a lot more mines. After lowering the Arch Illager's health down even more to the final diamond, he will then summon a row of crossbow illagers. This portion of the fight can be extremely dangerous if these aren't dealt with quickly. A Corrupted Beacon can be used to dispatch them quickly or the Totem of Protection can provide a barrier against the onslaught of ranged attacks.

If players are careful, they should be able to take down the Arch Illager with relative ease. What happens next though will test players' limits. After defeating the Arch Illager, he transforms into Minecraft Dungeons' true final boss, the Heart of Ender.

Minecraft Dungeons Heart of Ender

The Heart of Ender appears as a six legged giant Enderman and has four attacks, all of which are deadly. The first thing players need to watch out for is the trail of black fire left behind as the boss moves around the battlefield. Getting caught in this trail deals heavy damage and can quickly take a player out. Next, occasionally the Heart of Ender will sparratically fire projectiles in an arc which deal damage on impact and leave yet more hazards on the ground in the form of a purple fire that also hurts quite a bit.

The third move this boss possesses sees him summon up multiple Ender heads out of the ground which each fire a laser directly forward. This is mostly easy to dodge but can be difficult if there is a lot of fire on the ground. Finally, the Heart of Ender will disappear briefly before firing out lasers in four directions and spinning clockwise. In order to avoid this technique, players will need to try to stay between the two beams on either side of them. This is most easily done when close to the Heart of Ender, but that isn't always possible as a result of the numerous haszards the boss can leave around.

That said, if the player can manage to avoid these attacks, using artifacts defensively when necessary and dealing damage whenever an opening appears, the boss should go down. This is by far the most difficult battle in the main story of the game, and players may even need to change up their builds between phases.
