Minecraft has been out for nearly a decade now, and the game continues to receive major updates, thanks to its worldwide popularity. Last year, developer Mojang announced the highly-requested Caves and Cliffs update, bringing excitement to the Minecraft community. While many fans are excited about the update, some wonder what would happen to their existing worlds once Mojang rolls out the Caves and Cliffs update.

It is worth remembering that Minecraft's Caves and Cliffs update will be released in two parts. The first is launching on June 8th, including everything that doesn't involve Minecraft's world-generation. So players have nothing to worry about with tomorrow's update, given that it won't affect world generation. However, the second part of the update, slated to release at the end of the year, concerns some players, given that some fear the fate of their existing worlds in the game.

Luckily for Minecraft fans, game director Agnes Larsson reassures players that none of their creations, from houses made of dirt to castles on top of mountains, will be affected. Larsson explained that the studio could protect players' creations via a new blending technique Mojang is using. So, when players update their game with Caves and Cliffs part two, the game will blend the old world generation with the new world generation, allowing it to make the necessary changes without destroying anything made by players.

To put it simply, the second part of the update will only change brand new chunks and chunks that players may have seen but have not built on. Any chunks that players have used will remain unaffected. As for Caves and Cliffs part one releasing tomorrow, players should expect to see new creatures to interact with. Among these newcomers to the game are the Axolotl, the Glowing Squid, and the Goat, which will all be available in Minecraft starting tomorrow. Additionally, 91 new blocks and items will be included in tomorrow's update for players to find and use, including new mone materials like copper.

Lastly, Minecraft's Caves and Cliffs update will be available on all platforms tomorrow, as well as the Java Edition on Windows, macOS, and Linux. An exact release time is yet to be announced, but the latest update should be available at midnight on June 8th. While it may be disappointing that Mojang had to divide the update into two parts, it makes sense at the end of the day, given the major changes expected to be featured in Caves and Cliffs part two.

Minecraft is out now for Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and various other platforms.
