The gaming behemoth that is Minecraft is continuing to be one of the biggest IPs in recent history, with its sprawling landscape of potential and a creative community eager to showcase all manner of projects. As an open world game with near infinite replayability, players can get lost in a peaceful world, designing and building whatever comes to mind. There are many elaborate structures and endless possibilities, and what's interesting is how some players can create something that might seem to belong in a dystopian landscape and not one that's lush and blocky.

Uploading an image to the Minecraft subreddit a couple of days ago, user Megatorious has made what they refer to as a "cyberpunk skyscraper." The build consists of multiple layers and textures that make it look like it wouldn't be too out of place in something like Bladerunner. It's a fascinating construct that's got the rest of the thread talking, with its intentionally cluttered look, not to mention the enormous air conditioning units partway up, it's certainly an eye-catching building that stands out against the otherwise bright greenery of the world's grassy plains.

A cyberpunk themed build in Minecraft is something that has been done before, but it's seldom a project that many undertake. What Megatorious has constructed is something quite unique, containing a lot of detail. In the comments, the user has said that the architecture of the design was inspired by the Kowloon Walled City in Hong Kong, as well as some additional features used in Asian architecture. This makes the project even more impressive, as it's based off real-world constructions.

It shows just how much creativity the community has and how, even after more than 10 years, players are seemingly not showing any signs of moving on from the game. With many large builds created in Minecraft, including some from other popular culture franchises like Game of Thrones and CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077, Mojang's iconic release is not just a simple game. It's an expansive canvas for people to let their ideas flow.

As one of the biggest selling video games of the last decade, it seems as though it will be a long time before Minecraft falls out of favor with fans. Selling more than 200 million copies, the studio still putting out new content on a regular basis, and millions of dedicated players, it's difficult to imagine a time when people will finally stop talking about the open-world IP.

Minecraft is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
