Upgrading armor in Miitopia is as simple as getting to an Inn and selecting to "Spend Money." After this, the player's Miis will request certain items and go out to fetch them, spending gold and upgrading their gear along the way. Each class has its own unique type of armor that can't be worn by any other class. A Mage, for example, can't even wear Cleric Vestments.

The final Legendary tier of armor is technically stronger than any of these pieces of equipment, but Legendary armor has indistinctive names and is an endgame-exclusive type of armor. The armor tier right below Legendary, though, will generally cost a player 27,000G and require their associated Mii to be level 47.

14 Warrior Armor - Dragon Armor

Miitopia Warrior Dragon Armor

The Dragon Armor available to Warriors in Miitopia is the best option players have before reaching the maximum Legendary Armor upgrade at the end of the game. It takes inspiration from classic Chinese dragon designs, and arguably looks best with Red dye.

The player's Warrior is the only one who can specially request this Armor, which grants +199 Defense at level 47.

13 Mage Robes - Magma Robe

Miitopia Mage Magma Robe

The Magma Robe is the volcanic penultimate upgrade for the Mage's armor in Miitopia, and grants a big boost to Defense. The robes look like they have lava flowing from the tip of the Mage's hat, making it look not unlike an active volcano.

The player's Mage is the only one who can specially request these Robes, which gives its wearer +156 Defense at level 47.

12 Cleric Vestments - Japanese Vestments

Cleric Vestments Japanese

The Japanese Vestments are a piece of armor available to Clerics that take a lot of inspiration from traditional Japanese robes. The armor is bright yellow with a black cap, decorated with gold ribbons and some purple and red coloration.

The Cleric of the party is the only one who can specially request these Vestments, which grants +138 Defense at level 47.

11 Thief Gear - Pharaoh Gear

Miitopia Thief Pharaoh

The Pharaoh Gear is the best Gear in Miitopia for thieves, barring Legendary unique gear. The Egyptian inspiration is strong with this one, which features a grand headpiece as well as deep blue and golden coloration.

10 Pop Star Threads/Outfits - Sparkling Threads/Aurora Outfit

Sparkling Threads Aurora Outfit Pop Star Miitopia

The Sparkling Threads are the male Pop Star's pre-legendary best piece of armor. They are perhaps the male Pop Star's best-looking set, too, featuring what looks like embedded blue rhinestones and a matching hat. The male Pop Star is the only one who can wear these +142 Defense Threads, and must be at least level 44 to request this 23,000G armor when spending gold at an Inn.

The Aurora Outfit is the female Pop Star's best pre-legendary piece of armor. It's an iridescent outfit featuring a purple bow and starry leggings, which stands out among some of the blander top-level armor sets in Miitopia. The female Pop Star is the only one who can wear this +142 Defense Outfit, and must be at least level 44 to spend 23,000G on this equipment.

9 Chef Uniforms - Sushi Chef Uniform

Sushi Chef Miitopia Gear

The Sushi Chef Uniform is the best uniform available to Chefs before the Legendary tier of armor. This Uniform is simple, understated, and yet perfectly representative of a master Sushi Chef's typical garb (although the gigantic wooden hat is certainly something of an embellishment).

The Chef of the party is the only one who can specially request this Uniform in the Inn, which gives its wearer +173 Defense at level 47.

8 Cat Suits - Stationmaster Cat Suit

The Stationmaster Cat Suit is a Cat Suit that takes inspiration from Train Station officers around the world. This Cat Suit also features black and red designs, including a red tie, two red armbands, and a striped pattern on the ears.

The player's Cat Mii is the only one who can specially request this Cat Suit, which gives its wearer +182 Defense at level 47.

7 Imp Costumes - Angel Costume

Imp Angel Suit Miitopia

Ironically enough, the Angel Costume is the best Costume before the Legendary Imp costume becomes available at the end of the game. Except for the white horns protruding out of the Imp's head, the Costume is angelic in every way, including bird-like wings and delicate white coloration.

The Imp of the party is the only one who can specially request this Costume, which gives its wearer +190 Defense at level 47.

6 Scientist Lab Gear - Star Lab Gear

Star Lab Scientist Miitopia

The Star Lab Gear is the scientists' best bet in terms of armor towards the end of the game. It dyes the Mii's hair sea green, puffs it up, has stars placed all over the hair and coat, and gives the Scientist a single monocle in place of goggles.

The player's Scientist is the only one who can specially request this Lab Gear, which grants +147 Defense at level 47.

5 Tank Tanks - Disco Ball Tank

Miitopia Tank Disco Ball

One might think the Disco Ball Tank would be a low-ranking piece of equipment for a Tank Mii. In fact, it outranks everything except the Legendary tier. The Tank appears as one might expect – covered head to toe with disco ball panels that sparkle.

The player's Tank must be at least level 47 to specially request this armor, which grants +208 Defense at level 47.

4 Princess Gowns - Valkyrie Gown

Miitopia Valkyrie Gown Princess

The Princess' Valkyrie Gown is a Gown that takes inspiration from Brunnhilde, from a variety of Operas throughout history – the phrase "when the fat lady sings" refers to these powerful-voiced Viking-helmeted women of the stage.

The Princess of the party is the only one who can specially request this Gown, which gives its wearer +139 Defense at level 47.

3 Flower Flowers - Flower Bouquet

Flower Bouquet Miitopia

For Flower Miis, few things are more wonderful than eventually becoming a full bouquet of flowers at level 47. This Flower armor for Flower Miis features an array of orange and red rose buds ornately decorated around the Mii's face, as well as a floral shirt to match.

The player's Flower Mii is the only one who can specially request this Flower armor, which grants +164 Defense.

2 Vampire Suits - Aquarium Suit

Aquarium Suit Vampire Miitopia Armor

In Miitopia, and likely in real life, Vampires love to wear suits for some reason. However, Vampires supposedly cannot cross bodies of water in real life, whereas in Miitopia they get a Suit based on an Aquarium. Perhaps having running water above the Vampire's head is the key to not turning to dust.

The Vampire of the party is the only one who can specially request this Suit, which gives its user +182 Defense at level 47.

1 Elf Raiments - Heavy Metal Raiment

Heavy Metal Raiment Elf Miitopia

The Heavy Metal Raiment is one of the goofiest looking costumes in all of Miitopia, but it's also the Elf's best armor before Legendary upgrades at the end of the game. The spiked-up hair, mullet, black leather, studded sleeves, and chains pull this look together perfectly – plus, it complements the brutal-looking King Bow Elf Miis will get towards the end of the game, too.

The Elf of the party is the only one who can specially request this Raiment, which gives its wearer +199 Defense at level 47.
