As announced at the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase event, Marvel's Midnight Suns has gotten a surprise new release date. Midnight Suns was originally scheduled to launch in October, but then its release date was delayed indefinitely. Since no new date was announced, many assumed that the new Midnight Suns release date would be some point in 2023. However, the game is actually coming sooner than expected.

Disney and Marvel released a new gameplay trailer for Midnight Suns at the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase, confirming that it will be out on December 2 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. The PS4, Switch, and Xbox One versions are coming at a later, undetermined date. Besides confirming the Midnight Suns release date, the new gameplay trailer also gave fans a fresh look at the various characters that they will get to play as once the game launches in a few months.

The trailer showcases various Marvel characters like Blade, Captain America, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and more, all adorned with the special armor that they will be outfitted with in the game. Players also get to see the Marvel's Midnight Suns card-based gameplay in action, not to mention other aspects of the game, like the social features that have them making dialogue choices and the like while interacting with their fellow heroes.

This latest trailer lets those looking forward to Midnight Suns know when they can play the game, but previous videos have offered more in-depth looks at the various characters and gameplay features. For example, 2K and Firaxis recently released a trailer all about The Hunter, who is the player character in the game. This video clued fans in on the history behind The Hunter character, while another one gave them a deep-dive into The Hunter's gameplay.

The Hunter is the primary playable character in Midnight Suns, but players will be able to play as other Marvel heroes while actually out in the field completing missions. Besides the previously mentioned characters, others that Midnight Suns includes are Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, Ghost Rider, Magik, and others. There should be someone for every kind of Marvel fan in the game, but the jury is still out on whether it can all come together in a satisfying way.

Firaxis has a proven track-record with tactical strategy games, and its reputation with the XCOM franchise speaks for itself. Chances are good that Midnight Suns will be another strong entry in Firaxis' impressive library of titles, but fans will find out for sure come December.

Midnight Suns launches December 2 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X with PS4, Switch, and Xbox One versions coming later on.
