Rockstar Games may be best known for its Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption franchises, but once upon a time, the studio made other games, too. Alongside its heavy hitters were smaller projects like Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis, open world school game Bully, and ultra-violent stealth-action game Manhunt. Rockstar also used to make its own racing game series back in the day in the form of the well-received Midnight Club series, though the franchise has been dormant for quite some time.

The last Midnight Club game was 2008's Midnight Club: Los Angeles, which received mostly positive reviews and was well-received by fans. Rockstar Games ended up re-releasing Midnight Club: Los Angeles a couple of times, including a PSP version called Midnight Club: L.A. Remix and the PS3/Xbox 360 game Midnight Club: Los Angeles - Complete Edition, the latter of which featured the base game and all its post-launch DLC on one disc.

It's been over a decade since the last Midnight Club game released, and with Rockstar Games busy with Grand Theft Auto 6, it's quite likely that fans won't be seeing a new entry in the racing game series at any point in the near future. However, YouTube channel TeaserPlay has decided to create a concept video imagining what a Midnight Club remake might look like if the game was built using Unreal Engine 5.

The Midnight Club concept video mimics the gameplay and aesthetic that fans of the series should be familiar with, but with improved visuals. One would imagine an official new Midnight Club game would be similar, delivering gameplay fans are familiar with, but modernizing the graphics to better-match today's standards. There's been an entire console generation since the last Midnight Club game, so it's safe to say the leap in graphics quality would be quite significant if such a game ever materialized.

As previously mentioned, Rockstar Games is busy making Grand Theft Auto 6 at the moment, but that doesn't mean a different studio can't take the reins of the Midnight Club series in the meantime. In fact, Take-Two hinted that the Midnight Club series could be making a comeback, though nothing more concrete has been shared at the time of this writing.

The rumor is that developer Visual Concepts, the studio that makes the NBA 2K and WWE 2K games, could very well be working on a new Midnight Club game, though nothing official has been announced just yet. While fans wait for news on a new entry in the long-dormant racing game series, they can check out TeaserPlay's concept video and imagine what such a project could look like.
