One of the most appealing aspects of Shadow of War is the Nemesis System, which takes the well-received feature of the first game and completely expands upon it to take the gameplay in new and interesting places. In addition to giving orcs unique personalities and traits, this new system includes the ability to recruit allies as well as altering how orcs behave depending on the player's interactions with them. New to the game are specialized orcs who fit into new tribes like the recently revealed Mystic tribe.

Unlike the stealthy Dark Tribe or the technology hungry Machine tribe, the Mystics rely on dark magic to destroy their enemies. Though they may be primarily spellcasters, the new Middle-earth Shadow of War footage makes it clear that these orcs are also adept at hand-to-hand combat, utilizing curses, sacrificial rituals, and other sorts of witchcraft to gain an advantage over others. This can be seen towards the end where the orc uses a teleportation spell to appear behind an orc for an easy kill.

The defining trait of this group, however, appears to revolve around necromancy. At one point in the trailer, a previously dead orc was brought back to life in order to fight again, complete with glowing green eyes. With this ability in tow, it should make facing off against this group either in the campaign or online quite a challenge considering that these warriors never stay down for long.

Though fans have seen a variety of tribe trailers at this point, neither Monolith nor WB Interactive have revealed how these specific groups tie into the main game. With an expected nine tribes in total, players will certainly have a much greater variety of orcs to dominate and utilize in the new online conquest mode or during the single-player campaign as well. While these orcs can be found in-game, the controversial microtransaction and loot box system were introduced over the summer, which caused an uproar in the community. While not backing down, WB and Monolith have made it clear that players don't need to utilize this aspect as all content can be found in-game.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War releases on October 10, 2017 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
