Middle-earth: Shadow of War the upcoming sequel to Shadow of Mordor isn't out until late summer but gamers can find out if their PC will be ready for battle right now thanks to the just-released PC system requirements. While the required specs for Middle-earth: Shadow of War aren't too steep by 2017 standards, it looks like gamers still running a computer around the minimum level required for Shadow of Mordor will have some work to do.

Shadow of War requires 5 GB additional memory and a much better graphics card than its predecessor to even get to the start screen. At the high end, gamers are going to need a graphics card valued around $250 or more to get a decent experience, although we'll note that prices could certainly change by the time August gets here.

The last few days have been a wild ride for Shadow of Mordor fans with developer Monolith Productions and publisher Warner Bros. seemingly reacting to a leak of Shadow of War on Target's website by unleashing a huge amount of information on the game.

First, it was confirmed that Shadow of War will have multiple editions available for purchase and that the game will take advantage of Microsoft's Xbox Play Anywhere program. Then, Xbox head Phil Spencer kept the hype going by making Shadow of War the first game officially confirmed for Microsoft's Project Scorpio.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War will release August 22, 2017 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
