Microsoft Announce Xbox One Exclusive GamesCom

With only a few more months until the Xbox One hits store shelves, Microsoft only has a few more opportunities to make formal game announcements and build hype for their product. One of the events that Microsoft has seemingly targeted for big Xbox One-related announcements is GamesCom 2013, which is held in Germany.

Now that E3 2013 has come and gone, GamesCom stands as the last bastion for Microsoft — the console maker's final chance to unveil any exciting new content before launch. Provided they aren't planning any special Xbox One events, that is.

So what is Microsoft bringing to Germany and GamesCom 2013? Well, as we have just recently learned, they are planning to announce at least one new Xbox One exclusive at the event.

The scoop comes courtesy of Gamefront (via NeoGAF), who have learned from a source close to Microsoft that there will be an "unannounced game for Xbox One shown at GamesCom for the first time." Unfortunately, this source wouldn't say anything more than that.

Luckily, we do know that the Xbox One will be getting 15 exclusives within its first year of release, so presumably this unannounced game will be one of them. So far, Microsoft has announced a healthy selection of exclusives for their new console (Dead Rising 3, Ryse, Killer Instinct), but they are apparently not letting up.

Crackdown 3 Coming to Xbox One

If rumors are to be believed, Microsoft might be bringing a new Crackdown to GamesCom. Microsoft's open-world franchise found a solid following on the Xbox 360 and is poised to make a comeback.

To take the rumors a step further, Microsoft's Phil Spencer also name-dropped Crackdown when talking about potential Xbox One titles. That suggests that even if Crackdown 3 isn't announced at GamesCom it's likely in development.

As well, we haven't heard anything about Lionhead Studios' next title, which is said to use Unreal Engine 4. Obviously, after losing studio head Peter Molyneux, Lionhead has fallen under immense scrutiny, so perhaps it's better to show off their next game sooner rather than later. The only question is whether or not their new game is Fable 4.

GamesCom kicks off later this month, so stick tuned to Game Rant for all the next-gen info, including the announcement of this Xbox One exclusive.

What do you think Microsoft will reveal at GamesCom? Would you like a sequel or a new IP?

The Xbox One will be out this November.
