The subscription-based service can be a fantastic deal for the right kind of gamer. However, Microsoft’s ongoing sweepstakes potentially offers the deal of a lifetime.
Microsoft Rewards already allows players to redeem points for free coupons. Now, players can enter to win a free “lifetime” Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership. It costs 200 points per entry and includes a commemorative card with the winner’s Gamertag. Although, the free games are definitely the main selling point.
Interested gamers have until September 22nd to sign up for the sweepstakes. Availability varies by region, though it is confirmed available in the US and UK. It’s also worth noting that, according to Microsoft’s terms and conditions, a “lifetime” membership equals precisely 40 years of free games. While that’s undoubtedly a long time, it does seem like Microsoft is playing with words a bit. Winners can also choose to exchange the free Game Pass membership for a prepaid gift card worth $180.00 per year. This option is available at any point during the 40-year period.
Microsoft is limiting the winners to one per region, so the odds of any individual winning are pretty low. However, 200 Microsoft Rewards points aren’t as many as they sound, at least not compared to the thousands needed for regular rewards. That means it is not automatically a bad deal. Rewards members can earn points in several ways, including 3 Rewards Points for each Bing Search. Other methods include completing daily, weekly, and monthly activities on the Microsoft Rewards website and app. Existing Game Pass members also have unique opportunities to win additional points.
This competition isn’t the only way for Xbox fans to win free stuff. It’s still not too late to enter and win a Psychonauts 2 Xbox Series X bundle. The prize includes a digital copy of the game, a custom Psychonauts 2 themed Xbox Series X, a custom Xbox Elite Wireless Controller, a 1TB Seagate Storage Expansion Card, and a 4K smart TV. Rewards members have until September 30th to sign up for the giveaway.
Alternatively, players could bank their points to spend on other rewards. These rewards include things like free Xbox live subscriptions or gift cards for the Xbox Games Store. Still, the chance to win free games for 40 years isn’t an opportunity that comes around every day.
