There were a lot of exciting reveals during the Xbox/Bethesda showcase at E3 2021. Among the 27 titles that were announced to be coming to Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft Flight Simulator is finally getting a console release. Set to be launching on consoles on July 27, the game will finally be available for those without PC rigs beefy enough to handle it. While it's been known that a console release for the flight simulator was in the works, its exact release date was a mystery until the presentation.

Now that Xbox owners are going to be able to play Microsoft Flight Simulator, they'll be able to explore a photo-realistic version of the world in a way never done before on consoles. With the late July release date set, there's never been a better time to be playing flight simulators due to the current restrictions of living in a pandemic-stricken world.

Microsoft Flight Simulator's Freedom of Travel

Despite plenty of areas beginning to open up and lift travel and mask restrictions, the Covid-19 pandemic is still an issue that the entire world is facing. International travel is open in a more limited capacity than it was before, but many people, vaccinated and not, are still uncomfortable traveling anywhere outside of their immediate communities.

Luckily, Microsoft Flight Simulator is a perfect escape for those looking for all the benefits of air travel without the risks of actually going somewhere. Gone are the fears of infection, because Flight Simulator allows the player to travel anywhere in the world. With its photorealistic portrayal of the entire globe, it's a few steps shy of doing the real thing, at least visually speaking. One of the only changes is that instead of waiting in airport gates and TSA lines, players can be in the sky within minutes.

Flying to Relaxation in Microsoft Flight Simulator

It's safe to say that the past two years have been stressful ones. Between the pandemic, political unrest, and the general uncertainty of the future that many are feeling, being able to play a relaxing game is a gift that shouldn't go unnoticed, which is where Flight Simulator on Xbox Game Pass comes in. There's nothing wrong with the high-octane action and stress of games like Apex Legends, Resident Evil Village, or Knockout City, but a game like Microsoft Flight Simulator is essential for being able to take a break from the stress of the world and unwind.

The relaxing hum of the engine, the white noise of air travel, and the cradle-like sway that comes with flight can lull anyone into a relaxed state of peace. While PC owners have been able to relax with the game for nearly a year, bringing Microsoft Flight Simulator to consoles will be a Game Pass necessity for anyone looking to put their feet up and unwind.

Something that staying inside for over a year has helped people realize is how exciting simply being someplace new is. Microsoft Flight Simulator offers players the chance to explore parts of the world they might not have access to with the current pandemic landscape they're finding themselves in. Flying to a tropical climate to see crystal clear water, or heading to a desert in search of giant sand dunes, is likely going to keep console players occupied.

The simple novelty of pretending to be somewhere else is exactly why Microsoft Flight Simulator has always been popular amongst fans. Seeing a realistic rending of the world outside of our houses will serve as a great reminder of what's awaiting once it truly is safe to ditch the masks and do some real exploring of our own.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is available now for PC, the Xbox Series X/S version is launching July 27.
