Microsoft Flight Simulator has seen phenomenal success since its launch in July of 2020. Releasing during a time when traveling around the world was largely limited due to the raging pandemic, the flight simulation title saw widespread acclaim from both critics and players and winning DICE's Strategy/Simulation Game of the Year award earlier this year. The game has received a number of updates focused on adding greater detail to various regions around the world and Microsoft recently announced the next regions to receive updates.

Microsoft Flight Simulator has already seen five major world updates over the year since its release. Regions like Japan, the United States, and the UK and Ireland have been the benefactors of large updates adding a number of iconic landmarks and improving the consistency of the game's mapping. Now, Microsoft and developer Asobo Studio are readying up to introduce the next suite of updated regions into the game, focusing in on a few European countries.

Microsoft revealed the upcoming world update for Microsoft Flight Simulator during its press conference at Gamescom 2021. World Update 6 was announced to be focusing on the countries of Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. The trailer showed off several iconic and recognizable nations from the countries such as Germany's Schwerin Castle, Austria's Melk Abbey, and the Matterhorn in Switzerland. The two-minute-long trailer concluded with the announcement of the release date for the world update, taking to the skies on September 7.

Microsoft Flight Simulator's upcoming Europe-focused update is the most recent in a long string of updates the game has seen to improve the overall quality and accuracy of the world it presents. The recent World Update 5 saw the Nordics receiving a number of additions and changes, adding iconic landmarks like Finland's Turku Cathedral and cities like Stockholm and Copenhagen.

Asobo Studio has been constantly working on Microsoft Flight Simulator as the game has seen frequent updates over the time since the title's release. The title recently released on the Xbox Series X and joined the Xbox Game Pass line-up day-and-date with its release on the console. The title has been a popular choice for would-be travelers stuck at home due to the state of the pandemic and continues to inspire new players to see the world from the comfort of home.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is available now on PC and Xbox Series X/S with World Update 6 added as a free update on September 7th.
