Microsoft Flight Simulator continues to get updates more than seven months after launch. Just recently, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 received World Update 4, which added detailed landmarks and locations in places like Benelux and France.

Now, a developer live stream was hosted by the team at Asobo Studio which showcased various new elements coming to the game later this month. Of note were the new planes coming to the game, being the ultralight Top Rudder Just 103 Solo and the ATR 42-600 and ATR 72-600.

The live stream took place yesterday on the official Microsoft Flight Simulator Twitch channel, which lasted roughly an hour and a half. During the livestream players learned that a lot of performance optimization was being done for the Xbox Series X port, which should impact the PC release as well. With rumors swirling about Microsoft Flight Simulator on Xbox One, these optimization could benefit that potential version of the game as well. Finally, players got their first look at the ultralight Top Rudder plane in action, with over two minutes of gameplay footage.

The ultralight Top Rudder is essentially a seated glider, providing players some amazing views while flying over various locales. The ultralight Top Rudder will be available to purchase on April 27, and will cost players $9.99. Next, players learned that the ATR 42-600 and the ATR 72-600, which are massive passenger airliners, would make their way to the game as well. The planes are part of a collaboration with Italian aircraft manufacturer ATR. Unfortunately, the ATR planes are set to come to the game much later than the ultralight Top Rudder, and will arrive sometime in 2022.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is available now on PC and is planned for release on Xbox Series X|S in 2021, and an Xbox One version is rumored.
