With the next-generation of consoles set to take the focus of 2021, a big factor that will proceed into a much quieter release year are ongoing games. One of the more prominent games likely to remain a hot topic throughout the year is Microsoft Flight Simulator with its constant updates. Developer Asobo Studio is already starting off busy with the Microsoft Flight Simulator's UK Overhaul update expected to launch in February, but even the modding community is ready to take advantage.

Third-party development team Just Flight confirms that the F-15 fighter aircraft will make its debut on Microsoft Flight Simulator later this month. The add-on will be available for purchase on the official Just Flight website and will grant access to four different versions of the F-15, officially known as the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle.

The release date is set for a tentative mid-January release with some reports noting the plane could be available as early as January 18. While the release may be a bit off, Just Flight did give a sneak peak with some screenshots on Twitter. The package will cost around $37 according to the DC Designs Facebook page and will offer a $13.50 upgrade deal for previous purchases on the F-15 on other simulators. Those looking for a bit more than still images are in luck as YouTuber ObsidianAnt uploaded footage of the F-15 in action with commentary. Unfortunately, YouTubers won't be able to do a side-by-side comparison with Microsoft Flight Simulator and real version.

While the F-15 will only be available on the Just Flight website, the team is hoping to cut the middleman and go straight to the game. Microsoft Flight Simulator has a paid mods service that allows modders and development teams to sell their work via an official channel. The Just Flight team have noted that they are currently trying to get the F-15 package to release on the store to make it easier for gamers to give the combat focused aircraft a try. While there is no time-frame as to when it will release on the marketplace, the official Just Flight Twitter account noted that it will definitely be available on the Microsoft Flight Simulator store.

With Microsoft Flight Simulator being the fastest growing entry in the franchise, it should come as no surprise that developers are ready to utilize the bigger player base. Due in part to the game's release on the Xbox Game Pass service, more players are ready to tackle the often daunting world of aeronautical simulation than ever before.

With Just Flight preparing for the impending release, those interested may take the chance to look at the other mods available for the game. Outside of the more serious additions, players can get a bit more crazy by adding some otherworldly obstacles. With the F-15 bringing combat units, it will make the Microsoft Flight Simulator Kaiju invasions much more fun.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is available now on PC, with support for Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles planned for 2021.
