Microsoft officially confirms its press conference dates for E3 2017, and teases that more reveals are in store for its upgraded Xbox One console, Project Scorpio.

Although E3 2017 isn't going to happen until several months from now, Microsoft has decided to go ahead give its fans and the gaming industry at large the exact times as to when they should expect the tech giant to appear at the event, while also teasing that its press conference will offer new details on its forthcoming console code named Project Scorpio. As it happens, the company has confirmed that it will be taking the stage for E3 2017 prior to the expo at the Galen Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 11, and it will start at 2:00 PM PT / 5:00 PM ET / 11:00 PM UK.

For those unaware, Microsoft's Xbox briefings have typically been held on Monday morning during the week of E3, so the company's change in its standard schedule at the event is interesting to say the least. While this alteration to Microsoft's expected appearance at E3 2017 could simply be due to a conflict in different companies' scheduled press conferences, with Microsoft having made the announcement in a tweet with an image of internal components of Project Scorpio, it's more likely that the tech firm wants to have its time in the spotlight before its competition in order to set a high bar for the rest of the expo with reveals for its new console.

As of now, Microsoft has yet to officially declare what it will show at E3 2017 in relation to Project Scorpio, but fans should expect the company to further explicate the system's specs, and possibly even offer up an exact release date for the console, as it currently has a launch window of sometime in holiday 2017. Should Microsoft actually announce when Project Scorpio will be available, the tech firm will surely identify the console by its real name and provide a price point as well.

Aside from Project Scorpio, Microsoft fans will also be getting a glimpse at some of the new titles it has planned to release for Xbox One this year and beyond. Back in January, in fact, Xbox boss Phil Spencer teased the company's games lineup for this year's E3, with the Microsoft executive having declared that 2017 will not be led by its major exclusive franchises of Halo and Gears of War, which implies that there will be no new games coming for those series this year. Microsoft has instead stated that it will focus on "new experiences with different IP."

At the moment, Microsoft is the only company to have to officially declared the time and date of its press conference for E3 2017, but as the days and weeks press on, fans should expect other prominent firms to step up and formally provide details for this year's E3. EA has confirmed its pre-event for the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo, but has yet to address whether or not it will actually have an official briefing. Of course, should Electronic Arts' press conference be anything like its showing last year, then Microsoft and the publisher's competitors have already surpassed what the company has to offer.

Microsoft's E3 2017 briefing is set to occur on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM PT / 5:00 PM ET / 11:00 PM UK at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California.
