Xbox Game Pass gives subscribers a lot of bang for their buck. The subscription service gives players access to over a hundred titles on Xbox and even more on PC if they subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Xbox Game Pass became even more valuable when it added EA Play, a similar service, to the subscription back in March. The addition brought a large library of EA games to the service on both Xbox and PC, including the service's feature of trials of upcoming EA titles. Xbox would even convert EA Play subscriptions on the console straight into Xbox Game Pass subscriptions.

However, that conversion led to an exploit that allowed subscribers to get Xbox Game Pass time at a highly discounted rate. Previously, players could buy a year subscription to EA Play, which would convert to four months of Xbox Game Pass when redeemed on the console. This allowed players to stack three EA Play subscriptions to get a year of Xbox Game Pass for around $90 rather than the $120 it normally costs to get access to Xbox Game Pass' sizable library of games. Now, however, a year-long EA Play subscription will only convert to two months rather than four, according to the official Xbox Game Pass support FAQ.

The adjustment brings redeeming EA Play subscriptions into the same price range as buying Xbox Game Pass directly, which is about $15 a month. This also means that a one-month EA Play subscription will now convert to only 10 days of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Of course, the service has an incredible amount of games with more games being added to Xbox Game Pass every month, so it may still be worth its price tag for many gamers that are looking for a way to get access to a ton of games for a low cost.

Of course, new subscribers to Xbox Game Pass can take advantage of an ongoing deal that lets players buy a three-month subscription for only $1 if they want to give it a try. It is a bit disappointing that players with a current subscription lost a way to extend it with a discount, but it makes sense that Xbox would want to close the loophole. It will be interesting to see what else Xbox has planned for the service as it has continued to grow impressively. With the announcement that all future first-party Xbox titles will launch on Xbox Game Pass, it will be great to see what games subscribers will have to look forward to with Xbox's upcoming participation in this year's E3.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
