Without question, Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass has been an unequivocal success especially for fans of video games, with even more big news planned for E3 2021. The subscription service gives both Xbox and PC players access to a ton of games, both old and new, including all first party games as they release at launch. While some games come and go, the service boasts over 100 games that can be played immediately and include recently released titles like Outriders and MLB: The Show 21.

The service has already proven to be wildly successful for Microsoft as just a couple months ago it was reported that the service now has over over 23 million subscribers. This growth has helped Microsoft open new opportunities with other companies such as bringing the EA Play service over to Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. Microsoft previously revealed plans to release all first party games day and date on the service, giving fans access to major Xbox games like Halo: Infinite, though it seems the companies plans don't quite stop there.

In a recent interview, the head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty revealed Microsoft's intentions of getting to a point where it can release a new first party game every quarter. The goal behind this move is to keep the Xbox Game Pass service thriving through a consistent flow of new content for players to experience. As the portfolio grows, the service should as well.

While many Xbox Series X fans would point to the fact that the hardware has a serious lack of exclusives, especially after the delay to Halo: Infinite late last year, Microsoft has been attempting to remedy that over the past few years through acquiring and developing new studios like The Initiative. Not only that, Microsoft made a huge splash in 2020 by purchasing Bethesda for $7.5 billion, giving it access to some major franchises like DOOM, The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and more.

Last year showed Xbox fans a slew of new titles in active development, so eventually, Microsoft will likely be able to meet its goal of launching at least one new first-party title on Game Pass per quarter. Between known titles like Fable, Perfect Dark, Hellblade 2, and Halo: Infinite as well as games that have yet to be announced, the first party exclusive titles should start to arrive sooner or later. Xbox and PC fans longing for new experiences won't have too much longer to wait. With E3 2021 now just days away, fans are likely going to see even more upcoming content as well.
