As the release date for Creed 3 approaches, star and director Michael B. Jordan has gone on a press tour to promote his first movie as a filmmaker. However, his ambition goes beyond that, as it seems he’s already set his sight on Creed 4 and more.

While the first Creed film came out in 2015, just like Sylvester Stallone, Jordan is showing no signs of slowing down when it comes to continuing to tell this inspiring sports story, whose sequel was met with an equally positive reception. With the actor most recently hosting Saturday Night Live this past weekend, throughout his press tour, he’s been careful to share small details about what makes MGM's Creed 3 different.

In an IGN interview during its Fanfest event, Jordan stated he wants “to expand the Creed-verse within reason." This likely means he would reprise his role as Adonis Creed, similar to Stallone, even once his character hangs up his gloves. Within that same context, Jordan said that people should “definitely expect other things around Creed for sure" after the third movie that will see him go up against a fearsome rival in his co-star Jonathan Majors.

When Amazon bought MGM, the company acquired Creed and the Rocky franchise alongside James Bond. Pairing that purchase with Jordan's ambition, it’s not hard to imagine the two parties wanting to tell more stories within the Creed universe. Although Stallone will be absent from the franchise he created in 1975 for the first time in its history, there’s no telling whether Creed could bring his mentor back in future installments.

Nearly 50 years later, Rocky remains a cinema masterpiece that, much like its fictional protagonist, shook the world by clinching Best Picture at the Oscars in 1976. Despite the series' decline, Rocky Balboa and Creed managed to rescue its legacy. There is a lot to digest before watching Creed 3 next month, but it’s safe to say Donnie and Bianca's happy life is about to be rocked by Adonis' old boxer friend.

Jordan will have some big shoes to fill after Ryan Coogler and Steven Caple Jr. passed on their boxing assignments. However, it seems like the actor-director is drawing inspiration from sources like sports anime to turn Creed 3 into one of 2023's most exciting movies.
