In Samus Aran's latest 2D side-scrolling adventure, Metroid Dread, players will acquire all sorts of neat power-ups and abilities. These tools will help Samus find her way around the map, unlocking new sections to explore. One of these items is called the Phantom Cloak, allowing Samus to basically turn invisible for a limited amount of time. Here's where players need to go after getting the Phantom Cloak.

How the Phantom Cloak Works in Metroid Dread

Players can use the Phantom Cloak by pressing down on the right control stick, but only when the Aeion bar on the top-left of the screen is completely full. This turns Samus invisible to enemies, including the terrifying EMMI robots, but she moves slowly while it's activated. If players decide to fire weapons, the Aeion bar will drain faster, and once it's empty, Samus' health will begin to deplete. The Cloak will primarily be used to get through those Sensor-Lock doors around the map.

Where to Go After Getting Phantom Cloak in Metroid Dread

After defeating the first boss in Metroid Dread, Corpius, players should head to the northeastern section of the Artaria map to find a Sensor-Lock door. These are the same doors that players will run into immediately after exiting the boss fight room. The point is marked on the image above, and players can follow these steps to make their way over.

  • Leave the boss room and climb up the blue wall using the Spider Magnet ability to find a Sensor Lock door. Use the newly acquired Phantom Cloak to walk through it.
  • Shoot the enemy above Samus and begin to climb up the corridor. Enter the door on the top-right of this section, again using the Phantom Cloak.
  • In the next room, players should head down and enter the door on the bottom that leads east.
  • The next room has a missile tank, but players should keep heading to the right into the next room. If they want to grab the missile tank, they can go up and back into the previous room, but if not, keep heading right until a Save Room appears.
  • From here, the Sensor Lock Door will be to the right of the save room, and players can go through it to eventually find an elevator that'll take them to the next area of Metroid Dread, Cataris.

Metroid Dread is now available for the Nintendo Switch.
