The Good Smile Company has become well-known to gamers for its poseable action figures that perfectly capture fan-favorite characters, and it’s about to take on the most well-known female video game protagonist of all time. It's revealed that its next release will be a Metroid Dread version of Samus Aran.

This figma of Samus will feature her blue and white base suit that was made famous in the latest Metroid installment. There's no release date or price for it just yet, but from previous releases fans can expect a high-quality model with swappable items that for multiple poses.

Most figma figures are based on Japanese anime characters, but the company has been releasing more and more from American videogame culture, such as a figma of Doom Eternal's Doom Slayer. The figures are well known for their many points of articulation that allow fans to pose them any way they see fit, making for the perfect figure for a desktop or shelf. These are so accurate and well detailed that the price reflects it, with some figures costing as much as a full retail video game, $60-$70, or even higher.

This is not the first Nintendo figma either, as there have been made many for Link from The Legend of Zelda. One of the latest releases was a Skyward Sword variant that came with swappable faces including a "gallant expression" and "powerful shouting face" along with all of his usual equipment. Now with Samus, fans can have two of Nintendo's most famous characters on their shelf.

If history repeats itself, these will sell out quickly. Some older figures such as Pyramid Head and the Bubble Head Nurse from Silent Hill have had re-releases due to their popularity, but there's no guarantee everyone who wants one of these will be able to get one, so it's a good idea to keep an eye on Good Smile Company's website and social media.

As players wait for the release of the new Samus figma, they can take advantage of the game’s new update. As revealed in the latest Nintendo Direct, the biggest change is the addition of two new Metroid Dread difficulty modes, both aimed at different types of players. For those who found the game too hard there's a new Rookie Mode that gives greater health boost and reduces the amount of damage players take from bosses. The other mode is Dread Mode, which is unlocked after beating the game in Hard Mode and seems an almost impossible challenge. In it, every single hit will kill the player.

Metroid Dread is available now on Nintendo Switch.
