In a game about exploring the deadliest regions of a hostile planet, Metroid Dread very much encourages players to get vital upgrades before attaining collectibles, and, no upgrade is more desirable than the Gravity Suit. The Gravity Suit will grant Samus immunity to extreme heat and extreme cold areas as well as a few other boons.

After picking up the Gravity Suit in the southern part of Burenia, players can use the powers it grants in other zones as well as to make their way through the tediously slow water-filled areas of Burenia itself. Though, with the new speed boost that is given by the Gravity Suit, underwater exploration in Metroid Dread will be far less annoying.

Where To Find The Gravity Suit In Burenia

The Gravity Suit is found at the southernmost part of Burenia, just below the big empty gap in the center of this region's map. This area will be mostly filled with water, so the difference in movement speed before and after getting the Gravity Suit will be very noticeable.

What The Gravity Suit Does

In addition to preventing the player from taking damage from red areas (extreme heat) and dark blue areas (extreme cold), the Gravity Suit also makes Samus immune to the lava found in extreme heat zones. As such, players can explore to their heart's content without fear of environmental hazards.

Furthermore, Samus' overall movement speed will increase significantly underwater, as mentioned before, which will make traversing Burenia much more convenient--especially since one's underwater jump height is also increased.

On top of these wonderful traits, the Gravity Suit also increases Samus' defense, allowing less damage to be taken from each attack, and well as boosting the damage that she can deal with Dash Melee attacks.

Where To Go After Getting The Gravity Suit

As one of the last upgrades players will get in the game, the number of potential areas that can be explored opens up greatly, however, players will have to make their way out of Burernia to fully make use of the Gravity Suit. From the spot where the Gravity Suit is picked up in Burenia, players should head east toward a purple room containing an elevator that leads down to Artaria.

Artaria, the first region of the game, has multiple extreme heat and extreme cold areas that players will need the Gravity Suit to fully explore. However, after reaching this point, players will find that they need to proceed through this location back into the super-heated Cataris region to reroute some thermal energy.

Metroid Dread is available on the Nintendo Switch.
