Following the release of Metroid Dread, the game has seen a massive amount of success and popularity. Being the first new 2D Metroid installment to release since 2002, Metroid Dread has drawn in a massive amount of both experienced and new players. However, Nintendo recently chose to advertise Metroid Dread by way of a celebrity who has had a massive amount of personal experience with both Nintendo games and the Metroid franchise altogether.

In recent years, Brie Larson, known for her work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as a variety of other big budget Hollywood films, has expressed her passion for various Nintendo games. Larson's YouTube channel has numerous pieces of Nintendo-centric gaming content, with games like Animal Crossing: New Horizons taking center stage. Although, Larson also has a great passion for the Metroid series, as evidenced by a recent Instagram ad she made.

Over on Larson's Instagram page, she posted a fifty second video ad of her playing and discussing Metroid Dread on the Nintendo Switch OLED. In addition to her enthusiasm in terms of Metroid Dread, Larson also talks about her love for Samus as a character and how she has always played as Samus in every iteration of Super Smash Bros.

It's clear that Larson possesses a great amount of love and reverence for the Metroid franchise, to the point where Brie Larson even talked about playing Samus in a live-action Metroid movie during an Animal Crossing-themed talk-show. It's nice to see someone with as large of a platform as Larson discuss video game franchises like Mario, Animal Crossing, and Metroid with a great degree of fondness.

Considering how long it's been since an entirely new Metroid installment release, it's amazing to see such a positive response from so many in the gaming community. With Metroid Dread breaking the franchise' sales record, the demand for new Metroid content is clearly there. Though, it's too soon to tell what Nintendo plans to do with the series.

In any case, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Metroid going forward. While Metroid Prime 4 remains under active development, fans of the series still have no idea when to expect the game to release. Then again, Metroid Dread was originally supposed to release on the Nintendo DS, only to release on the Nintendo Switch several years later. It's possible that fans just need to be patient and trust that Nintendo is working diligently to make Metroid Prime 4 a memorable experience.

Metroid Dread is available now for Nintendo Switch.
