Metal Gear Solid Rising Delayed

Anyone planning to get their “Lighting Bolt Action” on in 2011 might have to wait a bit longer.

The latest title in the Metal Gear saga, Metal Gear Solid: Rising, may be delayed until 2012.

This may come as bad news to fans of the series who just finished Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and are looking to satisfy their MGS cravings. Just to be clear, we’re considering this a rumor until we get official word of a release date.

Rising would be the second game to star Raiden as the main protagonist. When Raiden made his debut in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, fans were not happy – regardless of how well the game played. Fan reaction toward MGS: Rising is a more positive one – since Raiden is now a super-badass ninja. MGS: Rising will also ditch the slower, sneakier, aspect of the Metal Gear games – replacing it with almost lightning fast action.

Even if this game was going to be released for the holidays in 2011, this is still a decent amount of time to work out any bugs. Until a firm release date is confirmed, players should remain hopeful to take Raiden’s sword in their hands in 2011. They should also remember Kojima Productions is known for their quality and given the drastic change from a stealth game to a full action title, it’s possible the MGS team is working extra hard on the transition for fans, while making new players feel right at home.

Originally Kojima didn’t have his full hand in this title, however a delay could mean he changed his mind. Could Kojima be jumping in to add more cut scenes to slow down the action?

Until we get official word from Konami or Kojima Productions we can only speculate if this delay is actually happening. Would you be disappointed if Rising is delayed another year?

Metal Gear Solid: Rising is currently expected to launch 2011 for PS3 and Xbox 360 and Game Rant will make sure to keep you updated if this changes.
