As announced just before E3 kicked off, Konami is bringing Metal Gear Solid 2, 3, and Peace Walker to HD in one collection for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 in the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. While Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 were nowhere to be seen on the show floor, Komani had versions of Peace Walker running on both PlayStation 3s and Xbox 360s at their booth.

The part shown on the show floor takes place pretty early on in the course of the game, but gives gamers a look at both the comic-style cut scenes used throughout the game and the action itself. The levels available give players ample opportunity to try sneaking, shooting, and just looking at the new HD visuals.

The game on the PSP is amazing and it should be just as good on the PS3 or Xbox 360. While the PSP did a great job of allowing gamers to play well despite its cramped controls, the game felt just about perfect on the a Dual Shock. I was able to pick up and play without any problems.

The biggest change to this version of Peace Walker is the game's the visuals. While the game certainly looks crisper and better than its PSP counterpart, this is not a game that players will use to show off the graphical power of their system to friends. Things look crisper and clearer but not amazing by any stretch of the imagination.

It is also hard to be that impressed by the HD graphics when PS3 owners have already experienced MGS4 and its glory--a game that still looks great today. This game does not look bad, however, it is just not pushing the either console.

Peace Walker is a great game on the PSP and likely an even better game on the Xbox 360 or PS3. Fans of stealth action or the Metal Gear series that missed the game should really consider picking up the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection just so they can experience Peace Walker. The game is a true sequel to the franchise and if this brief demo shown is any indication, the console version will not disappoint.
