Rumors of a Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake have been doing the rounds on the internet for years at this point and today, the fans anticipating the upgrade received some exciting news. This supposed remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 may be coming a lot sooner than was originally thought. The Metal Gear Solid series, created by game designer Hideo Kojima, is known for its innovation in stealth-action gameplay and its dense and sophisticated storytelling, which resulted in the creation of some of gaming's most iconic characters. The series has garnered a loyal fanbase over the decades since it began, however most of those fans idolize Kojima over Konami, the Japanese company who holds the MGS rights and is responsible for publishing the series. A very messy falling out took place between Kojima and Konami at the end of 2015, following the launch of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. Since then, the stealth-action franchise has been on an extended hiatus, barring a poorly received spinoff called Metal Gear Survive that launched in 2018.RELATED: Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes Fan is Restoring The Original Voice ActingAlthough the majority of fans were aware that this remake was in development, a recent revelation has re-ignited interest in the project. According to VGC's Andy Robinson, gamers can expect to see a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake revealed around E3 this coming summer, with a planned release date some time in 2024. In addition to the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake, there are also alleged plans to re-release other Metal Gear Solid games, although it's unclear at this point which games will be re-released, and which form those re-releases will take.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was originally released in 2004, and was widely praised for its innovative gameplay mechanics and compelling storyline. This remake is expected to feature updated graphics, improved gameplay mechanics, and possibly even some new content. As excited as MGS fans are for this project, some are understandably cautious about the prospect of Metal Gear Solid 3 being remade with Konami at the helm, given the company's recent track record. The publisher has developed a bad reputation over the last decade, with many fans accusing it of mishandling the Silent Hill franchise and the Castlevania IP. Konami's decision to develop a remake of Silent Hill 2 in partnership with Bloober Team Team was also been met with skepticism when it was announced towards the end of last year.

Despite these concerns, there is still hope that the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake and the other MGS re-releases will do justice to the IP. With a planned release date in 2024, fans will have to wait a little while longer to see if the remake lives up to their expectations. Until then, fans can only hope that Konami is taking the necessary steps to ensure that the Metal Gear Solid franchise is given the respect and care that it deserves.
