The trailer for Marvel's Black Widow dropped just days ago and has given viewers a glimpse at what Marvel's next movie will entail come 2020. The trailer is full of action, espionage, and references to past films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though the director of the upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie has pointed out that one detail is very reminiscent of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

To debut next May, Black Widow aims to show us part of Black Widow's backstory and will contain Russia-related espionage along the way, if multiple accented characters in the trailer are of any indication. However, it appears that Black Widow may have been inspired by the Metal Gear Solid franchise, as pointed out in a tweet from Metal Gear Solid movie director Jordan Vogt-Roberts.

The tweet can be seen below.

Via four different images, Vogt-Roberts pointed out two details in the tweet that might be referencing or inspired by Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. The top-left and bottom-left images are that of a scene that is shown about halfway through the trailer. Here, Black Widow is seen donning a white combat suit, seemingly built for stealth purposes. He compares this to The Boss' white suit from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, which she wears during her boss fight.

The bottom-left image shows a broader walkway that Black Widow lands on, with multiple armored guards appearing alert. This is compared to one of the first scenes of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater where The Boss confronts Naked Snake.

While the elevated walkway comparison is a bit of a stretch, Black Widow's white suit is strikingly similar to the suit worn by The Boss. Given both of the characters' experience in tactical espionage and close-quarters combat, the similarities become that much more uncanny.

It would make a lot of sense for Black Widow to borrow from the Metal Gear Solid franchise. The character may have been established prior to the first Metal Gear game, but mediums can blend, and as Metal Gear Solid 3 is still often considered the best game in the franchise, it would seem fitting to draw inspiration from Konami's third Metal Gear Solid installment.

Black Widow will be hitting theaters May 1, 2020.
