A new game named Behemoth has been revealed from Skydance Interactive, the developer of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners. This past week Meta held its first Meta Connect event, a continuation of its annual Oculus Connect and the first since Facebook rebranded. In the wake of Meta Connect 2022, attention has been shifted toward upcoming virtual reality projects for the Meta Quest 2 VR headset. Skydance capitalized on that attention to draw eyes toward Behemoth.

Skydance Interactive has been aggressively developing VR games over the past six years. It started with the release of Archangel, a first-person shooter mech game, in 2016. Since then, Skydance has released PWND and The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, with Saints & Sinners - Chapter 2: Retribution arriving in December later this year. Suffice to say, Skydance has a lot of confidence in the future of VR, at least so long as it can continue releasing games every one to two years.

Behemoth is the name of Skydance Interactive's next project, to follow Saints & Sinners - Chapter 2. The announcement trailer released recently confirmed that name. The rest of the trailer is little more than a teaser for the project. It shows a foggy, snowy landscape and as the weather clears it reveals a humongous clawed hand stretching out from the snowy earth. The hand could very well simply be carved ice or stone, but the implication is that it's the grip of a monstrous Behemoth.

Little else can be drawn from the teaser trailer for Behemoth. There are mountains in the background, trees in the foreground, and birds flying in the sky. There are also loud stomps that can be heard, as if a T-Rex from Jurassic Park is walking by. Snow even falls off one of the "fingers" after a stomp. The Behemoth may not be the monster whose hand we see.

Skydance itself provided a very brief description of Behemoth, stating that the VR game will feature a "grim new world." It also describes the world as "brutal," and says that players will have to "fight for their survival." Lastly, Behemoth is only confirmed for the Meta Quest 2 headset, though it isn't clear if it's exclusive or just a part of the game's marketing.

It's unclear when Skydance will share more information about Behemoth, but VR fans likely won't have to wait long. Skydance will likely focus on The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners - Chapter 2: Retribution through December, with Behemoth becoming its focus in 2023. Until then, the question of what Behemoth really is will remain unanswered.

Behemoth releases on Meta Quest 2 in 2023.
