South Korea's ratings board for video games has outed the existence of the second Mega Man Legacy Collection. Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 will allegedly pick up where the previous collection left off, featuring Mega Man 7 through the most recent release of Mega Man 10. The collection was rated for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, with mobile and the 3DS notably absent from that list. Capcom has yet to officially announce Mega Man Collection 2.

Where the original Mega Man Legacy Collection, including all of the classic NES Mega Man titles, stands as Mega Man's most successful years, Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 is all about when Mega Man did some soul searching. Mega Man 7 debuted on the Super Nintendo Entertainment system to middling reviews. Mega Man 8 came years later to the PlayStation to even worse reviews. The main Mega Man series would then go into hibernation for over 10 years, though several spin-off series would keep the franchise warm in the interim.

2008 saw a resurgence within the Mega Man franchise. Mega Man 9 sought to recreate the NES-era aesthetic that brought the franchise so much success, even going so far as to emulate various visual bugs that were unique to the hardware. Overall the game was received positively, with many critics lauding the game's music and challenging gameplay. Two years later Mega Man 10 would follow the same path as Mega Man 9, but found an audience less receptive to Capcom capitalizing on its nostalgia.

Capcom has yet to release another main series Mega Man titles since Mega Man 10 in 2010, despite saying that Mega Man 10 met sales expectations at the time. Perhaps Capcom was unsure it could find similar success with another NES-style, nostalgia-rich Mega Man game and stopped while it was ahead. Or perhaps it thought it could do something better and the next project just never materialized.

The original Mega Man Legacy Collection launched in August 2015, but was announced in June. Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 could be targeting a similar schedule. If ratings boards are taking a look at the game now, the collection could launch any time in the next several months.
