Sony has announced during this afternoon's State of Play that MediEvil will be getting a demo before the game's October 25 release. However, this demo will only be available for a limited time, going away on October 6, which many may missed due to everything else revealed during the State of Play, such as the new The Last of Us 2 trailer.

This news may not be surprising for astute gamers, as the MediEvil demo leaked on the PlayStation Store, but was quickly taken down earlier today. Now the Short-Lived demo is back up and ready to download, and those that complete it will be awarded an item to be used in the full MediEvil release.

The MediEvil Short-Lived demo will allow players to give the new gameplay for the remake a try. The State of Play video shows protagonist Dan using swords, bows and arrows, and even his own arm to take down enemies. MediEvil has only seen limited media coverage since its announcement in December 2017, so this hands-on demo will give fans their first chance in seeing what's been changed in the remake.

Also, those that complete the demo will receive Dan's Helmet, which can be used in the full game when it releases. It's not clear what the helmet will do in MediEvil, but if completing a free demo gives free items, it's generally worth completing it anyway. But those that want to give this MediEvil demo this early try will have to download it fast. The Short-Lived Demo lives up to its name and is only available until October 6. That's a little less than two weeks to download and complete the demo, so don't sleep on it!

MediEvil hasn't been getting as much attention as other titles this year, with the latest bit of information being from May's State of Play. The MediEvil trailer from May's State of Play revealed some of the gameplay for the remake, as well as revealed its release date. There is no doubt that fans of the PlayStation 1 original title have been eager for more information on MediEvil, but now they'll be able to decide for themselves if they like the changes made to this classic title.

Even those not initially interested in MediEvil now have a chance to try out the title and see if it's for them. With the limited-time nature of this demo, it's sure to grab a lot of people's attention as they rush to try MediEvil out.

MediEvil will be available on October 25. The Short-Lived demo is free to play now.
