Getting off the ground in Medieval Dynasty is daunting work. Players can easily find themselves overloaded with too many qualified candidates or without any great options right off the bat. Asking a villager to join is, after all, another mouth to feed when they aren't pulling their weight.

However, players too apprehensive about the process will miss out on valuable opportunities as Medieval Dynasty progresses. Don't think of this as two evils, there is a positive way to hire villagers, just be sure to have every duck in a row beforehand.

Don't Wait For Perfection

Medieval Dynasty Low Level Potential Recruits

Using Inspector mode, players can see the skills that various recruits have. The higher the skill, the better they will do the job. Doing a job they are good at makes the villagers happy. But if gamers are waiting for a level ten recruit, they'll need a preposterous amount of luck.

Villagers will gain skill levels the longer they do their jobs. Even a level one recruit, while not ideal, will eventually become a level ten. So long as the rest of their needs are met, the unhappiness they experience won't be enough to make them leave. Recruit early and often instead of being picky.

Housing And Supplies

There are four needs that all villagers have to retain their happiness:

  • Housing
  • Food
  • Water
  • Firewood

The trick is to have all four ready to go before the new villager arrives. Recruits will immediately go to the town and if they don't immediately have their needs met the process of losing happiness begins. They will leave before they die, but the effect is the same.

Management

Medieval Dynasty Assigning Villagers With The Management Tab

Go ahead and assign the new villager a home and a job immediately. This process doesn't have to be done in the village, open up the management tab and plug them in. They'll get started right away (even if they don't visually appear to be working, the work will get done).

If there are excellent hunting locations around, don't let them go to waste. They'll be happier when working, even if they aren't particularly good at the job. Keep their needs met and it'll only be a few seasons before they become the perfect citizen.

Medieval Dynasty is available now on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
