Medieval Dynasty is a brave mix of survival, town management, and adventure that manages to yield distinct, rewarding gameplay. Released in 2021, the game tasks players with building themselves up from nothing in medieval Europe. Tapping into the human need to create, build, and form communities, Medieval Dynasty provides players with hours of fun that at times can be fairly challenging, and at times feel almost like an architecture game.

Like many great survival games, Medieval Dynasty can come across as a little overwhelming to new players. Luckily, it's popular enough to have an active community, with players who are constantly sharing tips and suggestions with each other. Reading up as much information as possible can help new players get off to the best start. With that in mind, here are some of the best tips the community has come up with for beginners.

7 Go For Tier 2 Hunting

Medieval Dynasty features an assortment of skills that help the player with crafting, hunting, and building. Beginners may be tempted to get all skills to Level 1 before moving on to others, but it is much better to rush the Hunter Prowler skill to Tier 2. This will allow players to see animals and collectable items with greater ease.

Skills raise similarly to Skyrim skills: in order to level them up, players must perform an activity associated with the particular skill. Hunting for a while to raise the skill to Tier 2 has the added benefit of providing players with much-needed food.

6 Don't Stress About Dynasty Reputation

New players will probably be aware of dynasty reputation, but with everything else to pick up about the game, it is understandable if it's been overlooked at the beginning. Dynasty reputation refers to the way the player's dynasty/settlement is viewed by the rest of the world.

It's worth taking dynasty reputation into account, especially as the game is lost if it lowers down to -10,000. However, it is not the most important aspect of Medieval Dynasty, especially at the start. Players can afford to lose some reputation in exchange for getting started with a strong community. Reputation can always be earned back later on.

5 Keep An Optimal Population

Since a large focus of the game is to build up a community, newer players are likely to be tempted to recruit lots of people into the community. This is something that is best avoided, however. More people means more mouths to feed and more required resources.

Instead, keeping an optimal population size, dependent on the number of resources and food available, is the better strategy. This ensures that the community can thrive and all citizens will be fed. Unfed citizens leave, which can affect dynasty reputation, and is thus best avoided.

4 Use Sleep To Save Food

Like a lot of games in this mesh of genres, sleep acts as a time skip. In Medieval Dynasty, newer players will notice that sleeping not only acts as a time skip, but is really useful for saving resources such as food.

In the beginning, players will likely be low on food. These time skips can make it easier to make the food recipes players do have last as long as possible. By skipping to the day, players can get straight back to hunting and building up the food supply.

3 Farm Berries During The Summer

Medieval Dynasty implements a seasonal feature that means different crops will appear during different seasons. This means that players have unique ways of earning money depending on the season they're currently in.

During the summer, players should focus on farming berries. It is very easy to farm a few hundred berries in a short amount of time, with each one selling for 1g. Following quests will lead the player to a berry bush site quite early on, allowing them to make some decent starting money. Players familiar with farming simulators will feel right at home with this feature.

2 Don't Run From Boars & Wolves

Throughout their journey in Medieval Dynasty, players will run into a lot of boars and wolves. It can be tempting to run from these to avoid dying, but it's actually better to take them on. Boars and wolves tend to die within a few hits from the axe and can yield resources as well as food.

It is fairly easy to take on even a group of wild animals, so players should always opt to take them on, especially if they saved prior. Being stocked up on axes and food, while quicksaving frequently, will ensure that players are always ready to take on a group of animals and come out better off. Hunting animals is just one aspect of Medieval Dynasty that offers a lot of enjoyment, and is worth improving at.

1 Quicksave...A Lot

With so much going on, beginners to Medieval Dynasty could forget to save often. Quicksaving should be done frequently, to ensure that players don't die unexpectedly and end up further back than they anticipated. Nothing kills the enthusiasm for a game quicker than losing everything and having to redo parts.

It also helps to prevent unexpected losses through the game crashing. PC players will be familiar with quicksaving often due to issues such as these; thus it is definitely something to keep up with while playing Medieval Dynasty.
