Marvel's first Disney+ series, WandaVision, proved that the magic of the MCU would not be lost in a serialized format. This show also introduced audiences to Agatha Harkness, a minor character from the comics. Thanks to her popularity, as well as a marvelous performance by Kathryn Hahn, the character is set to re-appear in her own series.

It may come as a shock to diehard comic book fans that a show like Agatha: House of Harkness will premiere as early as 2023. The character surprisingly has taken precedent over huge pillars of the Marvel universe, like Wolverine or Nova. However, the show definitely promises a lot for Marvel fans, such as these ten possibilities.

10 The Best Of WandaVision's Writers

Agatha and Wanda visiting one of Wanda's childhood memories in WandaVision

It was confirmed in May 2022 that the writing staff of Agatha: House of Harkness would include some veterans of MCU's writer's room. Three writers are returning from other MCU television series: Peter Cameron (who wrote for WandaVision and Moon Knight), Cameron Squires (who wrote for only WandaVision), and Laura Donney (also from WandaVision).

The latter of those three, Donney, was the writer who wrote one of WandaVision's best episodes, "Previously On." This episode found Wanda and Agatha exploring Wanda's past, including some pretty huge MCU moments ("What is grief if not love persevering?"). One can expect Agatha: House of Harkness to be comparable in emotional weight.

9 More Of Agatha Harkness's Backstory

Episode 8 of WandaVision, "Previously On," also dives into the origins of Agatha Harkness. A de-aged Kathryn Hahn appears as a younger Agatha during the Salem Witch Trials, turning her execution ritual into a moment of accessing great power. Hopefully, getting a full series centered on Agatha will create more opportunities to learn about her history.

There's a lot to uncover between the first Agatha flashback and where she is when WandaVision begins. She's become a witch who seeks out other powerful witches in an attempt to gain their power. Perhaps she has some old allies or enemies from decades or centuries before that she will reunite with for unfinished business.

8 Kathryn Hahn Returns To Sitcom

Part of what makes WandaVision such a unique entry in the MCU is its use of the sitcom format and tropes. It made Kathryn Hahn such a perfect choice for Agatha, who masquerades throughout most of the show as Wanda's nosy neighbor. Luckily, the end of WandaVision gives a good idea of where viewers will find Agatha when this show begins.

After Wanda fully embraces the role of the Scarlet Witch, she curses Agatha by placing her back into her hex form as Agnes. Agatha is trapped, living in blissful ignorance, meaning viewers will likely see more sitcom-style scenarios in Agatha: House of Harkness. It'll also be interesting to return to Westview, New Jersey, to see how that small town is holding up.

7 Marvel Loves Their Villains

If the Disney+ shows are good for anything, it's that they're perfect opportunities to take deeper dives into characters who otherwise don't get much screentime. For example, the Loki series makes a hero out of Thor's malevolent brother. If Loki can win over audiences, maybe Agatha can also turn out to be a sympathetic character.

Of course, for Agatha to break good, she'll need a villain that's evil enough to frighten even her. Given that Agatha has never had a solo adventure in the comics, it may be difficult for Marvel to craft the perfect antagonist for this character. However, many WandaVision fans will probably remember one possible villain who polluted the series' wildest theories...

6 A Devilish Introduction

Mephisto as he appears in Marvel Comics

That's right. Agatha: House of Harkness may be the perfect avenue to introduce Mephisto into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, possibly played by an actor like Al Pacino or Jeremy Irons. In the comics, Mephisto is closely tied to the events that inspired WandaVision. His soul created Wanda's sons, Billy and Tommy, then took them away from her.

In her grief, Wanda resurrected Agatha Harkness, who at this point in the comics was dead. Through Agatha, Wanda cursed herself to make her forget about her children until they were later reborn. Perhaps Mephisto will be the key that ties Wanda's story together after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Agatha: House of Harkness.

5 A Return To Mount Wundagore

It's unknown at this moment where Agatha: House of Harkness will fit into the MCU. However, one place the MCU is bound to return to is Wundagore Mountain, which features prominently in Multiverse of Madness. In the comics, this location is the birthplace of the Scarlet Witch, while also housing some other pretty important characters.

In the comics, Agatha lived on Wundagore Mountain for a brief time. Another character who made the mountain his home was the High Evolutionary, a scientist who creates human-animal hybrids. It's been speculated that the High Evolutionary will be the villain of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, so perhaps he will debut in this Disney+ series.

4 Agatha's Fantastic Friends

Aside from her connection to the Scarlet Witch, there's one other group of superheroes who Agatha is closely tied to in the comics. That's none other than The Fantastic Four, who have officially debuted in the MCU thanks to John Krasinski's cameo as Reed Richards. In the comics, Agatha is hired by Reed and Sue to be the nanny to their son, Franklin Richards.

In fact, her relationship with The Fantastic Four was Agatha's first appearance in Marvel Comics history. She's therefore a close character to not only the Richards family, but their central antagonist, Victor von Doom. It would be interesting to see Agatha appear in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, but maybe Doctor Doom will appear alongside her first.

3 The Fate Of Wanda Maximoff

A variant of Wanda from Earth-838 during the climax of Multiverse of Madness

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness leaves the status of the Scarlet Witch up in the air. During the film's final moments, Wanda realizes her wrongdoing and destroys Wundagore Mountain, erasing the Darkhold from the multiverse. As a result, however, she appears to be killed in the debris, and is later mourned by Strange and Christine.

However, producer Kevin Feige and Elizabeth Olsen seem optimistic about Wanda's future. If she really is dead, then that would possibly break Agatha free from her curse as Agnes in Westview. Though it would be a crime to not get to see Elizabeth Olsen and Kathryn Hahn share the screen again, whether it be as adversaries, allies, or as mentor and mentee.

2 The Daughters Of Liberty

The Daughters of Liberty in the comics, including Jessica Drew, Sue Storm, and Maya Lopez

Agatha may also be an interesting gateway to a superhero group known as the Daughters of Liberty. In the comics, Agatha joins the group and trains several of its members in the ways of magic. Such members include yet-unseen Marvel heroes, such as Jessica Drew, a.k.a. Spider-Woman, Mockingbird, and Sue Storm.

However, there are also members of the Daughters of Liberty that MCU fans have already met. Sharon Carter was a member, as was Maya Lopez, who debuted in Hawkeye and is set to star in her own show, Echo. Perhaps Agatha will encounter and/or ally herself with some of these powerful female figures in the MCU sooner rather than later.

1 Agatha's Next Target

Whatever direction Marvel intends to take Kathryn Hahn's character in Agatha: House of Harkness, the witch will certainly be up to no good. As seen in WandaVision, her interest in Wanda and in Westview was based on a desire to investigate a strong source of magic. Maybe her next target will be towards other sources of magic in the MCU.

One such source could be Dane Whitman, who at the end of Chloe Zhao's Eternals, inherits the cursed Ebony Blade from his uncle. Steven Strange, Wong, and America Chavez could also be on Agatha's future hit list. Or maybe Agatha's target will be Wanda's children, Billy and Tommy, who currently only exist in the multiverse.
