YouTuber Trevor Heitmann, better known as “McSkillet” was involved in a fatal car crash this past Thursday. Heitmann, as well as a 43-year-old mother and her 12-year-old daughter all died on the scene.

According to reports, Heitmann was driving his 2014 McLaren the wrong way on the I-805 interstate freeway in San Diego when he struck the family’s Hyundai and set off a crash that involved a total of 8 cars. The mother and daughter were heading North to Orange County on Thursday afternoon and have since been identified as Aileen and Aryana Pizarro.

The incident occurred around 4:30pm on Thursday evening, with multiple vehicles ending up in flames. The 805 freeway was promptly closed as Highway Patrol and rescue vehicles rushed to the scene where Heitmann and the mother and daughter were pronounced dead.

Heitmann made a name for himself on YouTube with CounterStrike: GO-based content, specifically with regards to CSGO skins. His channel had over 900,000 subscribers and some of his more popular videos pulled in several million views. Many of them were focused on the expensive nature of CSGO and its weapon skins, and it seems he carved a niche covering reveals and unboxings.

However, he had gone dark recently, with his last YouTube upload over 5 months ago and his last tweet back in February. There was no reason given for his departure from YouTube but a Tweet back in 2017 suggested Heitmann was frustrated with the changes made to copyright strikes and ad revenue. As a channel based around titles with the word “weapon” in them, it’s likely that many of McSkillet’s videos were losing out on ads because of their content.

Regardless of the why, it’s an awful situation all around that has taken three lives and injured more. Whether or not Heitmann was aware of his actions or motivated by some other force, three people lost their lives too soon. We will update the story if more information surfaces.
