A new Tomb Raider Barbie has been revealed by Mattel that is modeled after actress Alicia Vikander, the star of the upcoming Tomb Raider film based on the 2013 video game.

The doll has a fully-articulated body, and is dressed in an outfit inspired by the movie. She will come with a few accessories, such as a map, journal, and her trusty climbing axe. There will also be a stand included, so collectors can show her off, and a certificate of authenticity. The Tomb Raider Barbie is currently available for pre-order from the official website for $29.99. She will launch on March 9, 2018, a week before the film is set to release.

As fans of Mattel's iconic doll will know, this isn't the company's first foray into the world of video games. Mattel has helped create several Barbie-inspired titles throughout the years, dating all the way back to the Commodore 64. Additionally, the 2016 'Career Barbie' was made a Game Developer, which is another example of Mattel's interest in the industry.

As for the Tomb Raider series, two months ago publisher Square Enix officially confirmed a new Tomb Raider is in development. The announcement came through the company's Twitter account, where it lightly detailed the upcoming title, promising a major event in 2018. What's more, the post called the upcoming game Lara Croft's "defining adventure", which can only mean Square Enix has big plans for the title.

Rumors have been circulating that it will be called Shadow of the Tomb Raider, though there has been no official confirmation. The announcement itself doesn't mention the game's title either, but keen-eyed fans noticed that the first letter of each sentence just happened to spell out the word "SHADOW". Whether this is pure coincidence or a hidden clue has yet to be determined.

Tomb Raider is available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, OS X, and PC. Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
