Netflix revealed the official teaser trailer for its upcoming series Masters of the Universe: Revelation, which debuts part one in July. Masters of the Universe: Revelation follows up after the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor in the 1980s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series.

Produced and co-written by fan-favorite filmmaker Kevin Smith (alongside Eric Carrasco, Tim Sheridan, Diya Mishra, and Marc Bernardin), Masters of the Universe: Revelation offers an "adult-oriented anime" that will be follow up from the events of the last series, bringing back the power of the Grayskull. Being animated by Powerhouse Animation Studios (Blood of Zeus and Castlevania), fans can expect top-tier animation and illustrations in this upcoming series.

Despite being animated by the same studio that brought Netflix's Castlevania series, viewers will notice the lack of blood and gore in the Masters of the Universe: Revelation trailer, which shows the studios' diverse talent set and the show's marketability to younger viewers. By making the combat "cleaner," the show becomes more accessible, which will serve to its benefit if it hopes to get new fans.

The Masters of the Universe: Revelation trailer shows big, grand fight scenes, lots of magic, and sword combat that fans of the series are very well accustomed to. It's also worth noting that just because there's no gore in the trailer doesn't mean that there won't be any in the show at all. It also doesn't mean the combat scenes are inferior to the likes of Castlevania, since combat can still be worth watching if it's clean. Shows like Teen Titans, Young Justice, and even some shonen anime don't rely on blood, gore, or shock factor to make the fight scenes dope.

It's nice to see a series that many would have called "long-forgotten" make its return in a much more modern format. There's nothing holding this series back because this is the first venture into the world of He-Man for many, while others will be taking a nice trip down memory lane under a much more improved lens.

It's always hard to predict how reboots or revivals will do in terms of the old fans and new viewers. Let's hope this show proves that the ancient relics of the past are worth bringing to the younger fanbase. Who knows? Maybe Masters of the Universe: Revelation can even bring new viewers over the original '80s series, which they may have been missing out on.

Masters of the Universe: Revelation will be available on July 23rd, 2021, for Netflix subscribers.
