In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic sweeping the globe, celebrities in gaming circles like Tyler "Ninja" Blevins have been donating to charities looking for the cure and assisting those who have been affected by self-isolation. Steve Downes, the voice of the Halo franchise's protagonist Master Chief, announced on Twitter today that all of the money he makes via the personalized message recording service Cameo through the month of April will be going to Project C.U.R.E.

The organization, which typically focuses on strengthening health systems in "under-resourced countries," is currently working on procuring and donating items like masks and gloves to hospitals and first responders in various communities across the United States, according to a news release put out March 17. Downes' service on Cameo has him recording voice lines and videos celebrating birthdays and other such events as Halo's iconic lead for $67 a pop.

At the same time as Downes is donating his personal proceeds through Cameo, Microsoft and 343 Industries are raising money through Halo 5. A "Relief and Recovery" cosmetics pack is available in-game that will donate all proceeds to the Coronavirus Relief Fund.

In the announcement video posted to Twitter, Downes says that "maybe together, we can help finish this fight." It is currently unclear how the coronavirus outbreak will affect Halo Infinite on the upcoming Xbox Series X.
