Mass Effect fans that were hoping to bring their alien love affairs a little closer to reality will be disappointed to hear that, once again, BioWare's newly released Tali'Zorah body pillow is sold out. The body pillow was released on Monday for the price of $35 and offers a 54-inch pillow case with art of Tali'Zorah on both sides. Now, the profile on BioWare's website lists the recently-released product as "Out of Stock," though Mass Effect fans can sign up to be notified when it's back in stock.

Tali is, of course, one of the Mass Effect franchise's companion characters from across the main trilogy. She's a Quarian that needs to wear an enviro-suit to keep her safe from alien bacteria and viruses that could make her deathly ill. She is also, of course, a romanceable character in Mass Effect, making her a fitting choice for a body pillow that fans could hug between sessions of playing the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition.

The Tali body pillow case is a sibling to the previously released Garrus Body Pillow Case that was put out in 2019. The Garrus pillow case was also brought back alongside the new Tali release. The Garrus Body Pillow Case is also priced at $35. It, luckily, is still in stock for the time being. Tali fans may not be able to pick up their first choice of body pillow, but, like in Mass Effect, sometimes different opportunities present themselves that are worth following through on.

The story behind the body pillows is unique. BioWare originally announced the Garrus Body Pillow in 2014, not as a real product but rather as an April Fool's joke. The response was more excited than BioWare likely expected. It took five years to ultimately make a 2019 Garrus Body Pillow release a reality, but fans quickly bought the product out.

It's unclear why BioWare chose Tali to be its second body pillow option, though it does pair nicely with Garrus as one of the Mass Effect franchise's female romance options. Still, there must be some Tali fans making product decisions at BioWare to so easily pass over Liara.

There is some discussion about whether a body pillow release for Tali is appropriate. These types of niche products are typically left to the fanbase to create. It comes down to the continued discussion regarding the sexualization and objectification of women in video games. BioWare must ultimately have confidence in the Mass Effect franchise's embrace of romance and the way both men and women are treated. Or, it simply saw the profit in a Tali body pillow.

Mass Effect 4 is currently in development.
