Each Sunday Valve releases a list of the ten best-selling games on Steam, as measured by revenue. May 16's top-ten list delivers an unsurprisingly tumultuous shift from previous weeks due to the continued success of Capcom's Resident Evil Village, but also two exciting new releases and pre-orders for upcoming titles. The biggest addition to this week's list is the highly anticipated Mass Effect: Legendary Edition.

Number one on this week's list is Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, which launched this past Friday. Mass Effect: Legendary Edition bundles together the three original Mass Effect games, making for a collection with hundreds of hours of sci-fi RPG action, and one of the biggest epic stories in video games. BioWare has also gone the extra mile to update and improve the games, with the original Mass Effect having several key upgrades.

In the second and third position on this week's list are a pair of listings for Resident Evil Village. The standalone Resident Evil Village is in second, but just behind that is a combo bundle featuring both Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 7 with all DLC available for each. The newest title in the popular horror franchise is perhaps one of the most-discussed games of the year, which makes it somewhat of a surprise that it wasn't able to retain the top seller position from last week.

Another new game on the list is Subnautica: Below Zero, which takes the fifth spot just below the Valve Index VR Kit. Subnautica: Below Zero is a sequel to the 2018 underwater adventure game, and there are high expectations for the sequel after a lengthy Early Access period. In the seventh spot is Hood: Outlaws and Legends, a PvPvE competitive game in which two teams of four fight over a guarded treasure mid-heist. It comes in just below It Takes Two in sixth place, and above DOOM Eternal in eighth.

There are two other surprises on this week's list. Both Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker, the fantasy MMO's upcoming expansion, and Biomutant, an open-world action game, made the list based on pre-orders alone. They're in ninth and tenth place, respectively.

Looking toward next week's list, it wouldn't be surprising to see both Mass Effect: Legendary Edition and Resident Evil Village's continued success. Fans can likely also expect to see Biomutant jump up the list as it goes on sale. As for new releases, the PC port of Days Gone should be worth watching, but Steam's top-sellers list could include even more surprises.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Resident Evil Village is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S.
