The reveal of the Mass Effect Legendary Edition could not have been more exciting for fans of the series. After a few years of no official announcements, it was hard not to have doubts about the franchise’s future. The Mass Effect Legendary Edition is finally confirmed, though, and fans may already have an idea of when the remaster is coming.

While the brand-new Mass Effect game teased alongside the reveal of the Legendary Edition is not going to be released for at least a few years, remasters of the original trilogy should be coming far sooner than that. While BioWare remained vague with its 2021 release window, a discovery regarding a potential date for the Mass Effect Legendary Edition was made by Reddit user Reqqu.

Reqqu discovered a listing for the game in an online European store called VBD, with the date given being April 23, 2021. The information should be taken with a grain of salt, as there is a very real possibility of the date being a placeholder, but there are a few things that point to its legitimacy. The platforms, for example, are only PS4 and Xbox One, something that lines up with the announcement that the Legendary Edition of Mass Effect does not have next-gen versions. Further, April 23 is a Friday, one of the most common days for new game releases.

The Mass Effect remasters already have an interesting connection with retailer listings, as a Korean website leaked the Mass Effect Legendary Edition several weeks before it was even announced. While this does not confirm that the date is legitimate, as it could be a placeholder too, the fact that retailers have spoiled Mass Effect Legendary Edition news in the past is promising.

Unfortunately, fans cannot gain much information via the listing apart from the potential release date. No new cover art is seen, as only a logo exists on the mockups for the game’s packaging. No description is provided either, meaning fans will have to wait before they know whether companions will be improved or if romances are changing in Mass Effect’s remasters.

Still, if this information does prove legitimate, long-time fans will not be waiting too long to experience the journey of Commander Shepherd once again. Beyond that, the Mass Effect Legendary Edition allows those who never experienced the RPG franchise to do so in a modern setting, bringing new fans on board before the series begins its next chapter.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition is in development for 2021.
