Mass Effect fans have always been passionate about the universe and its characters, something that shows through the series' cosplay community. One new photo is particularly fun, as it sees a group of Mass Effect players huddled together as some memorable characters.
The special Mass Effect cosplay was posted by Reddit user funmunke. The Redditor took the photo themselves, seeing the cosplayers together at PAX back in 2014. In the image, players can see four different cosplayers standing together, with the comments section used to confirm each of their identities. Viverra, the woman dressing up as Jane Shepard, shares that Ayriath is Tali, Tobius Photos is Joker, and In a Time of Cosplay is EDI.
Starting on the left-hand side, Tobius Photos’ take on Joker sees the fan nailing his portrayal of Seth Green’s character. Deceptively simple-looking, Joker’s outfit is tough to get right, as it requires some special material and a specific design to get right. Fortunately, Tobius Photos nailed their costume, with the leathery look and different colors matching the in-game version of Joker. His facial hair also lines up, with the all-important SR2 hat used to bring the pilot of the Normandy to life. To the right of Joker, two more great cosplayers can be seen, with Ayriath’s Tali being next in line.
Mass Effect’s Quarian Race is one of the most interesting alien species in the series due to their masks and protective suits, and both features making them fun to cosplay as. Tali specifically has a neat design, and all the neat touches are seen in Ayriath’s version. The cosplayer also makes sure to include the purple color scheme and yellow details. Next up is EDI, with In a Time of Cosplay’s eye for detail instantly being noticeable. The hair is spot on, with every shade of silver also lining ip with the in-game version. Alongside the machinery on her body and EDI’s signature visor, a pistol is held.
Finally, there is Viverra, who has a stellar costume that is on par with those worn by the other members of the group. Filling the shoes of the beloved protagonist Commander Shepard is no tough task, but Viverra’s FemShep delivers. Alongside some red contact lenses, her red hair matches that of the default design for Shepard. The armor is particularly impressive, as it features different plating on the shoulders and arms. With scratches making it look worn, and the N7 logo on the chest piece, there is a lot to love about the outfit.
Despite being seven years old, the work done by these Mass Effect fans holds up incredibly well. With more players jumping into the series because of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, too, it is no surprise that this group photo is proving to be so popular.
