Despite fans feeling like developer Square Enix was pushing it with their Mass Effect themed DLC costumes for Final Fantasy XIII-2 they're apparently at it again with another popular game series-themed costume. This one, that will be available to male protagonist Noel, is inspired by Ezio Auditore's garb from Assassin's Creed Revelations.

It's actually a much slicker looking DLC costume than anything Square Enix has shown us thus far, and should be accompanied by more detail when the Famitsu issue breaking the story releases. Alongside Noel is Lightning's sister Serah in a familiar looking outfit, but for the life of me I can't seem to place it.

It seems a bit odd that Square Enix would choose a Japanese publication to tease DLC costumes based on a property that has a much more Western appeal, but this is of course Final Fantasy we are talking about and if the Japanese market is adopting the DLC more fervently then more power to them. The real crime is that Square Enix couldn't have got a hold of the design for Connor in Assassin's 3.

Also being teased via the Famitsu article is the addition of long time Final Fantasy villain Gilgamesh as a new party member. Much like Lightning or Sazh can become party members after being defeated in the Coliseum, it appears that Gilgamesh will also be available once this DLC releases.

Even though Square Enix revealed that they were looking to make DLC for Final Fantasy XIII-2 a bi-monthly ordeal it's actually surprising to see the developer deliver on a promise in earnest. After leaving fans with the illusion of closure at the end of the main game, fans have been clamoring for some DLC to wrap up that storyline, and that's apparently on its way.

But in the mean time if Square Enix can give fans a few ways to upgrade the look of the game's main characters at least it's something. Now bring on that Lightning story DLC.

What other properties would you like to see get the FF 13-2 costume treatment? How does this Ezio costume rank amongst those that have been released thus far?

Final Fantasy XIII-2 is available now for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
